The integrated writing task measures your ability to understand key ideas from an academic reading passage and a short lecture, and to write a response to a question about them. You must determine what information in the lecture relates in some ways to information in the reading. Then you must organize and compose an essay.

In your response, you must demonstrate your ability to:

→ organize ideas effectively in answering the question;
→ draw requested connection between the lecture and the reading;
→ develop ideas with appropriate examples and explanation;
→ display unity and coherence, transitions;
→ use English words and sentences efectively.

The topic of this video is the "Graded School System".

Here is the READING PASSAGE:

→ Historically, schools in the United States have borrowed the European system of school organization, a system that separates students into grades by chronological age. In general, children begin formal schooling at the age of six in what is referred to as the first grade. For the most part, students progress through twelve grades; however, some students who do not meet minimum requirements for a particular grade may be asked to repeat the year. Graded schools are divided into primary grades, intermediate grades, and secondary grades. Primary education includes grades 1 through 5 or 6, and may also provide kindergarten as a preparation for first grade. Referred to as elementary school, these grades are usually taught by one teacher in a self-contained classroom. Intermediate grades begin with grade 6 or 7 and offer three years of instruction. At this level, teams of teachers may collaborate to provide subject-based classes similar to those offered in high school. Viewed as a preparation for high school, intermediate education is known as junior high school. At grade 9 or 10, secondary school begins. Classes taught by subject specialists usually last about fifty minutes to allow a student ten minutes to move to the next class before it begins at the top of the hour. At the end of twelve successful grades of instruction, students are eligible for a secondary school diploma, more commonly called a high school diploma. ←

Is it me or this one is just tough? The thing is that there is no specific opinion in the reading. It seems like it just explains the structure without saying anything about the pros and cons. The audio on the other hand has a distinct negative opinion on the topic. So it's not clear how the sources are related. Can anyone help, please?

This reading passage is total BULLSHIT. It is clearly said in every TOEFL book that both parts (reading and listening) state at least one point of view towards the topic. in this case only the listening part states an opinion, the reading passage is just an objective text about the school system. You can still relate to the reading while listing the teachers arguments but i think there are far better ways to improve integrated writing

Text and listening are completely unrelated :/

CAN YOU EVALUATE MAY SUMMERY PLEASE .

The reading passage explains a fascinating topic related to the United state students grading system and provides three reasons of support for holding its idea.However the professor discusses the problems of grading systems on students and opposes all the reasons of the reading article.
First the passage discuses that the minimum age for starting schooling of students should be six years old.In contrast to this idea the professor said that the grading system of students should be according to the students mental, physical, and social maturity. Here both the reading passage and the lecture are opposing each other.

Second the reading passage set forth the idea that students should hold the minimum requirement to pass to the next level.The professor contends this idea by saying that students should evaluated by group.

Finally the article posits that if students got the passing point in high school that is grade 9 and 10 they will promoted to high school diploma. In contrast to this idea the professor opposes this idea by saying that students should repeat the class if they have the interest to repeat it.

Can you evaluate my essay please.

The reading states that the United States schools have started separating students on the basis of their grades by
their chronological age and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor states that Separating students on the
basis of their grades could be a problem and refutes each of the author's reason.

First, reading says that all students maturity level is same and they divided students into
primary grades, intermediate grades, and secondary grades
.But The professor explains that there could be the difference in the maturity level of students. They could socially,
physically and mentally weak so individuals are having their own maturity level.

Second, The reading suggests that If the student is not met with the minimum requirement of grade then he or she has to repeat
the year. The professor opposes this point by saying that if students repeat the year again and again then they could
suffer from boredom or they have to drop the school.

Third, the professor explains that teacher evaluates the group of students.But individual achievement could not be recognised
in a group. There could be the fast learner as well as the slow learner in a group.that is how it opposes group evaluation mentioned in reading.
