Do you think we will ever see The Doors of Stone released?

“When you wait a few span or month to hear a finished song, the anticipation adds savor. But after a year excitement begins to sour." ~ Kvothe, Name of the Wind

The huge difference between Rothfuss and Martin is that there is solid proof that Martin is actually writing where as Rothfuss can't even produce a chapter he promised for a charity incentive.

This is why I love Brandon Sanderson. Regardless of your opinion of his writing (which I personally love) the man finishes his series.

At this stage I have made up the ending. Kvothe just admits he told a few lies and now it's getting out of hand that a real fairy is now living with him and some guy is writing a book based on his bullshit . Turns out he can't even play the lute and is actually a non magical virgin .

“... Apology now is of little consequence, " she said, her voice flat and chill as slate. "Anything you say at this point cannot be trusted. You know I am well and truly angry, so you are in the grip of fear. This means I cannot trust any word you say, as it comes from fear. You are clever, and charming, and a liar. I know you can bend the world with your words. So I will not listen."
"Vashet to Kvothe”
― Patrick Rothfuss, The Wise Man's Fear

I've never felt this let down by an author before.

I genuinely believe that a well-made adaptation of the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie would be the best show ever made, provided the cast is incredible and they figure out a way to smoothly let viewers know what the characters are thinking, at least in some specific parts. The internal dialogue is just too good, especially Glokta's.

There's speculation that his ghost writer either died or quit on him

I've read both books (and the extras) 5 times over the span of 6 years since I discovered the author.
At this point I'll take anything... anything to quench my thirst for a conclusion.

This series is un-finishable because there is so much story that needs to be squeezed into the third book. Rothfuss has made it impossible to extend the series to more than three books.

Whenever he finishes it, I hope that it won't be rushed, but a complete and flawless read befitting the previous two books

Kingkiller Chronicle is an abandoned duology by a presumed-retired author Pat Rothfuss. Expecting this series to be completed is a path to disappointment at this point.

I really love the world building and storytelling that is presented in these books. The name of the wind and wise man's fear are two of my favorite books of all time. That being said, i won't be waiting forever for book 3 to come out. Ive been patient, I've moved onto other books while keeping this one on the back of my mind. I've read them and re-read them about a dozen times. I honestly dont know how much longer I'll wait. Perhaps it's time to let the series go. I think a dozen years has been long enough. Winston Churchill said it best, "perfection is the enemy of progress". Perfection is something many artists get tangled up in. Striving for it and hating everything they create because it isn't perfect.

Doors of Stone will never release. He's a twitch streamer now, and I have lost all faith.

Yeah this book is never coming out, Rothfuss has barely done any work on it in thepast decade and doesnt seem particullary interested in doing so

Finish the book, then and only then will everyone agree with you that you shouldn't have written it. Win/win

I didn't realise they came out that long ago. I read the first book in late 2013 and the second in early 2015, so I'd no idea people had been waiting longer than that. Since I was a latecomer to the series I have never quite had any expectation of the third book appearing soon, and frankly it's rather slipped from my mind. I won't hold my breath.
Having been reading a song of ice and fire since that first came out in the 90's, that one is much more uppermost in my mind. Although by the time Dance with Dragons came out I had forgotten most of the earlier books so had to re read them all to get into that. If it wasn't for the tv show having raised the presence of the series, I think my attitude to it would be the same as with Kingkiller Chronicles.
One that nobody talks about though is the science fiction series the War Against the Chtorr by David Gerrold. Been waiting since 1993 for book five of that.
