Anthony Farrer of Timepiece Gentleman, a grey market dealer, just admitted to spending $5 million in consignment money and implied fabricating fake robberies of luxury watches. These are serious offenses, which appear to cast a dark shadow over our industry.

Welcome to CRM Life Episode 119, but first check the link below to our prize competition, where you can win a white gold Patek Philippe Aquanaut and an all-expenses-paid trip to Miami!

Clients and fans have been contacting us since Anthony made the announcement above. They want to know if the consignment market is over, if all pre-owned watch dealers are untrustworthy, if we are involved with TPG in any way. The answer to all of these questions is NO! The reality is that one bad apple does not rot the entire tree and this fiasco just highlights, now more than ever, the importance of dealing with reputable dealers and sources. NEVER mistake social clout for honesty, morality, or ethics. Based on that, we make our public statement about Anthony Farrer in this video and pray that every victim who has suffered due to this situation is made whole as quickly as possible.

The fact that Anthony was even wearing consignment pieces was a huge red flag. They should be either in the showroom or in the vault.

To see a grown man worrying about needing stickers on a watch that is designed to go into 1000 feet of seawater... I'm just at a loss for words haha

Props to CRM for being a wonderful HONEST company and never gave that scammer any collab/light of day like other channels that help prop up his name and scam

Bought my first watch from y'all almost 10 years ago. There's something to be said about brick and mortar stability. Keep bringing that honest energy to Miami brother!

¨if I worked hard for it, I want to be the one to put the scratches on it¨.

Awesome statement!

CRM always sets the standards in what a grey market dealer should be. Great content! And i very respectful of addressing the TPG situation but not over doing it. Kudos as always!

Consignment is not ALWAYS a con, but if it’s the majority of your business, it’s a con.

So glad you guys had the balls to talk about TPG. It’s companies like you that give me hope the grey market will survive

That’s just a dumb question. The guy that thinks a sub is more desirable than a Daytona because they sell more subs doesn’t understand basic economics of supply/demand. People were paying 3X retail on the Daytona. Try selling a sub at 3X retail and see how many you sell. You will find out real quick which is more desirable

Carlos pullin' watches out of his pockets like he's David Copperfield.

Its so nice to hit a Friday and know our favourite family will be joining us with another video. The AF mess I truly hope doesn't impact all the decent and honest grey market dealers there are out there. I did used to enjoy watching TPG videos but there was always too much drama for me, and I have found that honesty and drama rarely go together. CRM have earned their badge of honour and honesty IMO. Much love as always from London. UK xx

This is the reason why I said when I’m ready to buy my first Rolex I’m going to buy from CRM. Family business and I appreciate the business that have integrity and separate themselves from the bad apples. God bless ❤

Carlos comes right out and says the customer is worse than the other guy.

The Watch/Jewelry business is rich with shady untrustworthy people. Consignment isn't a Con, but plenty of risk.

Watch enthusiast for 57 years... What a different world today with people looking for supposed "status", instead of admiring a timepiece for its quality, heritage, tradition and class. The sums paid are amazing! Almost all watches I have I bought many years ago (at a far lesser price) to mark special milestones in life. Each one actually has a story behind it, and most I have never worn, as they are important keepsakes as I do not want them to be damaged. That is the curse of a true enthusiast. Lastly, I would only buy watches at the factory boutique in Geneva where I have enjoyed a long relationship. One caution tip for buyers: Never buy a watch without box and papers! Those are items that usually thieves do not have when they attempt to sell it.

Here’s the thing I see with crm, one just the gut feeling check, these guys have knowledge experience business practices etc that take years to acquire and can only be acquired by actually doing the work. Anthony never could show that, his videos were flash no substance. Second of all with CRM what you see is that this is a family business there is a level of pride that short term money could never fuck with their pride and personal morals. The father builds the business to give it to to the son, the son would never want to shame himself for the business his father built, it’s just a business built brick by brick on honesty trust morals hard work etc. it’s great to see and I hope they get a flood of business instead of lose business because of the hole Anthony left in the market.
