Children's Hospital Employee With Down Syndrome Inspires Doctors, Patients

Nathan Simons is the hospital's first full time employee with Down syndrome. WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports.

What a great guy. Clearly, he is quite intelligent and hard working. And, I agree that he is an inspiration to families with children of special needs who come into the hospital. Good for everyone that this man has a decent job.

The way he takes the less pleasurable parts of his job in stride is honestly enviable. Here’s hoping he’s still doing good out there.

This just goes to show that people with any disability whether it be a physical disability like myself or an intellectual disability are valuable assets in any job. I've worked with people with downs syndrome and let me tell you they always no matter what have positive attitudes day in and day out

You are my inspiration!! I have an older brother who my parents adopted even though he had fetal alcohol syndrome. My parents have done everything they can for all 9 of us but he still struggles. Not gonna lie, I was expecting him to only be a "morale" employee, there to escort patients inside and make their day easier because of his personality, you know, the usual things you'd expect from a Down's syndrome person. But no, they have him doing some of the business/office/paperwork part of the job too. That's awesome!
