The poets who have been regarded as the most representative of the Romantic poetry movement are divided into two camps—early and late. The older generation of Romantics begins with William Blake, William Wordsworth, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The younger generation that succeeds them include Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Keats. They are often called “The Big 6,” but there are more Romantic age poets who are worth reading.

If you haven't encountered it already, Clare Carlisle's book "Spinoza's Religion" is an excellent, deep analysis of the underpinnings of Coleridge et al, which are more properly called "panentheist" (everything is in God) rather than "pantheist" (everything is God)

Dear Sir, I don’t know how to thank you for these wonderful lectures. They are fantastic. I have an English literature degree and this year plan to train as a teacher in secondary school. Your lectures have helped me tie context and English poetry together brilliantly. I only need the lectures about the development of English literature from Old English to Post Modernism. But I intend to watch them all. They are marvellous. Thanks for explaining transcendentalism. I’m deeply interested in Emerson, so your definition helps so much.

Some excellent general definitions of Transcendentalism, though personally I prefer the idea of the subject person connecting to the object humanity through some of those ineluctable connections like belief, genetics, and tradition. It is for me a connection of the present to the past and future.

It's seems pretty romantic to claim that being poorly adapted to an imperfect system raises the question of who is well, and that it is that there are those who have to ask or remark upon this, and that there is some solitary wretch...

Hello! Can you discuss in your upcoming videos other poems written by William Blake (for example: Proverbs of Hell or some poems from Songs of Innocence and of Experience) and some by Lord Byron?
I really liked the other videos you made and I hope you will consider my request! Thank you!

Dear Adam,

I was hoping you might recommend any scholarly introductory books into the Romantic Era (to assist reading of the primary sources). I am doing a non-English degree but truly literature owns the lease of my heart. I am hoping to be well acquainted with all of the English poetry cannon by the time I apply for my second degree.

Separately, do you have an email which I could use?

With best wishes,

Dillon
