So many think that a guitar with one single pickup is a one trick pony. That is so far from being true, especially if it has a P90 pickup. Enjoy the video featuring the PJD Carey Apprentice and leave a comment below!

I bought one of these now about 6 months ago. Sold everything else. This is all I ever wanted to play since I got it. Still can't imagine playing anything else. It's just that good. Fat(super figured) tele neck with natural finish, compound radius, perfect frets and feel, weights nothing, reliced so I don't care if it gets scratched, .It sounds AMAZING and can get any tone I want with the volume/tone controls. Marstronic treble maker works better than any bleed I've heard or had. Also... looks gorgeous(same color). Obviously a single P90 guitar isn't for everyone... not even a great one... but, as it turns out... it is perfect for me. If I needed more gladly play anything PJD makes... the quality on this is ridiculous. Great video. I watched it right before I got mine and now again and spot on. Including the pots... but I found it was the knobs for me, not the pots... too slick. I changed to tele style knurled knobs and rolling back and forth is alot easier.

Great video and beautiful guitar. I am roughly 30 days into my journey of learning guitar as an adult and this is exactly what I want with. A single pickup, p90 Epiphone Les Paul. It has been the number one style of guitar that I have watched all of my guitar heroes play for the past 25 plus years so that's what I decided to start with.

Damn Kris…you have a brilliant ear for tone…I lost track after about 6 different sounds from that guitar…I love a single p/u guitar and especially P90s….great stuff my brother!!!!

Love it, I am also a huge fan of P90’s but never had a guitar with just one. I’ve got a Telecaster body somewhere this has given me an itch to do something with it involving a single P90 in the bridge and maybe a couple of other ideas. I just might get a LH Strat neck to give it a reverse headstock as well!

Excellent presentation. Not too much, just the facts. And great picking to boot!

Thanks for doing this one, Kris! I really dig single P90 guitars, recently bought a HB DC junior fat as an entry level into this. The PJD is another level for sure and seems to suit you very well, you look really inspired and some of the tunes you play are just wow! Rock on!

very tasty playing, kris.
i own the harley benton version and switched to a gibson p90, dc junior.
to be honest, nothing changed. too thin sounding for my taste.
i love humbuckers, in 335s for instance.

Love single P-90 guitars, and I honestly never feel at a loss with my Gibson DC Jr. . I went looking for a 60's SG Junior and ended up finding a work friend who practically gave me his father in law's a 66 SG Special. I could literally disconnect the neck pickup and wouldn't miss it. I'm not saying I would, but there is something so wonderful about P-90s and something wonderful about single pickups guitars. The lack of versatility makes you play the sounds you learn it has. Nothing better in a mix or on stage than a P-90 or Tele bridge pickup. I do employ the EHX Humdebugger at times when recording quiet parts.
I have tried to adapt that approach in my studio stuff and stick to one amp, one synth, one or two guitars per track or session, and it has really made everything more about the songs and playing and less about nitpicking over the gear. With a little EQ, there is not reason to keep switching out all the time.
The PJD Carey is a wonderful looking and sounding guitar. Your playing is fantastic, too. THANKS!

"What a intro!"
"It's not the guitar. It's the player."

P90's are the thing. We can do it all. The more I play P90 guitars the more I love it. So sweet.

Great as always. I’m a guitar builder and a hate the new relic thing.😂😂 I would love my guitars to look new for ever.😁😁 Imposible but I wish… As a builder I understand the benefits of a single pickup guitar. As a worship player I love HH configuration with custom made pickups (by me) that sound great as humbuckers or single coils and also love HSS with splittable humbucker. I do like a lot the p90 sound but for what I do I enjoy them when I’m in my little studio not playing live. I’m working on a set of pickups to be able to have hb, single and p90 at once.

That guitar sounds great and your playing was fantastic! I love P90 guitars, and single P90's rule! I have a Fender Noventa tele which has a a chunkier neck, which is my preference too.

Happy New Year my friend, I hope 2023 is the best yet. I love P-90’s; I came up on a special, so they’ve always just been my favorite PU’s. Loving that guitar and more importantly, the sounds you’re pulling out of it. All my love!!!

That is a nice axe !!! I still remember playing a single P90 Erotic Fibenare in Frankfurt a long time ago. And it still haunts me not to have been able at the time to purchase it ... Single P90 are on my bucketlist for sure. But before that, the DGT SE 🙂
