Did You Know In SOUTH PARK…

During the episode, Kenny Dies, the original plan was for Kyle to be killed off permanently. Matt and Trey decided that Kyle and Stan were too close in personalities, so they were going to kill Kyle off and have Butters be the new replacement. For some reason, they decided against this, but Butters started getting more screen time on his own. Also, Timmy was supposed to be a one time character, but Matt and Trey loved him so much that they let him stick around for future episodes. ALso, the first episode where Kenny doesn’t die is the Mr. Hankey, the Christmas poo episode where he cheats death multiple times and cheers when he realizes that the episode is over.

As much as I LOVE butters, he wouldn’t fit into the group dynamic as much as the four original boys do! But, still, I love Butters

Two reasons they didn’t kill off Kyle:
1. Stan and Kyle are best friends and that’s why their personalities are similar
2. Matt and Trey got sick of the killing Kenny joke, so they just got rid of him until the final episode of season 6

I think that Kyle's dynamic with cartman is one of the most important in the show, plus killing him off would be way more unreversible than killed Kenny off

They decided to not send out Kyle because Stan and Kyle were best friends, so it made sense for them to have similar personalities. So they killed off Kenny because they thought the joke was getting old.

I never saw Stan and Kyle as being too similar. I mean, they’re both (sort of) the voices of reason. But Kyle is smarter and has more empathy, whereas Stan has average knowledge and cares more about himself. It’s their friendship dynamic that keeps the characters grounded imo.

I think Stan & Kyle were representations of Trey and Matt

Let’s be candid the friendship dynamic Stan and Kyle posses his the heart and soul of South Park and an instrumental factor in ample stellar South Park episodes

I’ve noticed since that episode ‘Kenny dies’, Stan and Kyle’s distinct personalities have blossomed more. So I get the feeling that rather than kill off one of them they instead gave them each their own personalities and quirks. That’s a much better workaround to that issue. Keeping Kyle in the show was a great idea because his and Cartman’s rivalry is one of my favourite parts of the show.

What Timmy actually says is "I'm Iving a lie. I'm living a lie. Timmy"

The dynamic between the four boys is so iconic. I'm glad they went in the direction of adding instead of subtracting. When they realized they had a whole town to work with, that's when the show got good. Just for the record, if somebody was gonna take the place of Kenny or Kyle, I would've wanted it to be Craig.

dude I am so glad they didn't do this, Kyle is not only one of my favorites characters but he's also really the only sensible one in south park lol

Matt and Trey didn't keep Timmy cause they loved him, they fought with the network to put the character on tv and when they finally did, the network loved the audience's response and wanted to see more of the Crippled One in future.

They were going to kill of Kyle because the creators felt as if they both had the same personalities and no differences, but they ended up gaining their own personalities over the years.

They decided against killing Kyle because since they were best friends, it made sense for them to be similar.

Kyle and Stan being similar adds to the comedy in certain situations. Since they’re both the “reasonable” ones it makes the times that one of them is unreasonable and goes along with the lunacy that much funniet

I’m glad they decided against killing Kyle, the whole point is that he’s Stan’s best friend.

actually, though matt and trey loved timmy, they thought the broadcasting system wouldnt approve his appearance, as it could be too touchy of a topic. (which, if you’ve seen south park, timmy’s character and his conflicts are tame compared to the rest of the show.) and at first, the broadcasters didn’t, so matt and trey agreed to having him for just one episode, then he wouldn’t come back. however, fans LOVED timmy and begged the co-creators to keep him around. eventually, south park decided to keep him for further episodes, and timmy is now the loved character we know today.

Not for some reason, they decided it made sense because they’re best friends and since then they’ve become more defined.
