The main reason things we make not lasting is called Controlled Obsolescence, Manufacturers products are designed to break down, so we are forced to buy a replacement. Many parts are also "Discontinued" within 2 to 5 years also meant to force people to buy more spend more.

It's called "Built In Obsolescence", .. a strange phenomena which involves rich businesspeople designing and selling products which can only perform their tasks for a limited period. Thus allowing them to become twice as rich when they get to sell it to you again. And again, and again.. because we keep doing the same shit that their advertising gurus tell us. ... possibly?
