When I moved to Thailand I had a planned budget of £1, 000 per month. I came close most months.
After getting married to a traditional Thai woman my spending dropped to about £700. She has a master's degree in accounting, had retired at 40, after buying her own house for cash (that she rents out) her car for cash, clearing her parents mortgage, and investing in high yield government bonds.

We bought a new house 4 months ago, we paid 50/50 mo mortgage or loans. Even with buying furniture, plants etc our monthly spending hasn't increased, so in another couple of months I expect to see our spending drop now we're not paying rent.
