Bruno de Sá sings A. Scarlatti's 'Mi rivedi, o selva ombrosa' (Griselda)

The opera Griselda by Alessandro Scarlatti premiered in 1721 and featured an all-male cast, mostly made up of castrati singers. Bruno's album Roma Travestita explores repertoire that arose after 1588, when Pope Sixtus V banned women from singing on public stages in the Papal States, and male singers were called upon to portray female characters.

Wat een stem en altijd vanuit de borstpartij gezongen, nooit geknepen, altijd vloeiend. Niet glasachtig zoals bij veel andere counters. Een prachtig egaal laag, zonder kopstem. Werkelijk prachtig gezongen een naam om abosluut te onthouden en nooit meer te vergeten. Dat hij nog heel veel opnamen mag maken en nu nog arrangeren voor de Opera in Amsterdam, die houden wel van een travarol in een degelijke opera!
