Step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Trap!

M Night Shyamalan rocked onto the scene back in 1999 with The Sixth Sense, and has been making movies ever since. But with several big swings and many, many misses, does his latest movie “Trap” hit?

Trap definitely raises some questions. Like does anyone in this movie behave like a human? How is nobody seeing the overt crimes that this guy matching the killer’s description is committing in public? Why is the popstar suddenly leading the investigation?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Trap.

M Night Shyamalan is the Benjamin Button of movie directors.
Started as a class A director, slowly evolving into an film student director.

Writing a whole movie just to boost your popstar daughter's career is TIGHT!

It's a suspense film that spends the first 40 mins of its plot centred on a killer's struggle to break out of a building - only to then have the same killer effortlessly break out of a house, then into a car, then back out of the car, then back into a house again. It's mental.

Pitch Meetings have become infinitely better than 99% of the movies being pitched. Well done, sir

This has nothing to do with this particular video, but I took the Universal Studios tour a couple of weeks ago. We came up to the Fast & Furious part of the tour, where you get chased by Owen Shaw's people. The tour guide gets on the mic: "Oh, no. how are we going to get out of this? Actually, it'll be super easy, barely an inconvenience." That was the highlight of the day.

M Night went to the Eras tour & thought "that should be my daughter." Wrote a movie around that idea. I hope he gets a good Fathers' Day gift

When I was watching this in the cinema, I kept thinking to myself: "This is Super Easy, Barely an Inconvenience: The Movie".

It's also wild that he spent almost two minutes pounding on the door and yelling before just *CASUALLY GRABBING KEYS TO UNLOCK IT*

My biggest question is:
Why the HELL did the concession stand worker KNOW that people who go backstage aren’t checked by the cops? Why did the lady who met them backstage KNOW that only Lady Raven herself wasn’t checked by the cops? Why would EITHER of them disclose that information?

And also, if the wife truly did suspect that her husband was The Butcher…why in the ACTUAL HELL would she trust him with their daughter????

M. Night Shyamalan seems like he's making movies with the only guideline being "We just have to make a movie good enough that they can make it look interesting in the trailer"

5:14 that actually sounds like a much better movie. The Firehouse on lockdown, the firefighters not sure whom they can trust, keep things on a much smaller scale to increase the tension. Plus imagine all the fun you can have with all the equipment firefighters have. I’d watch that movie.

The thing that is even more confusing is the police DON'T know what he looks like or have a description. It's never clarified exactly what they're checking or how they're checking people and letting them go or not.

I don’t know how many episodes you are in to these pitch meetings, but there has been no slippage at all. You are one of the few channels that I can stay interested in and not get bored. It’s rather amazing tbh.

"...and there was a sloped roof..so you know...impregnable". The only thing missing from the movie plot...Great vid, as always...

The bike spoke thing is the funniest thing to me, prime example how nobody on this movie has ever touched grass or you know, changed a tire on a bike or even remotely interacted with one.

The way characters just kept randomly popping up with convenient bits of information to move the plot forward was almost as lazy as the director turning a third of the movie into his own daughter’s musical showcase.
