You may want to build up the strength before doing it to many times. Something that helps is keeping more of you weight on the palm near the wrist rather then further out on the fingers.

Great tutorial! i liked how your dad was explaining his fear of being inverted and the key is to trust the pressure on the supporting hand and having a feel for the center of gravity, that's some very good advice in my opinion.
