... if we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump of cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down ...

I once jumped from about 15 m, and I remember having enough time to think “I’ve been falling for way too long”

I fell off my bunkbed once…as a kid. That’s my high dive record.

Reminds me of when I climbed up a cliff and was about to jump off about 40 feet cliff. Just about the time I was measuring up enough courage to do it and jump feet first, this 13-year-old girl walks up turns around and does a backwards swan dive. That happened 30 years ago and I’m still trying to find my manhood.

I jumped out of bed this morning. Just thought I'd add my own anecdote to be part of the comments.

for all those who don't know: the waters surface tension is being reduced by flow and bubbles. usually such jumps have safety precautions like sunken grids oxygenating the water to break surface tension for the dive

This is the closest I’ll ever get to doing something like that, and I’m happy with that!

I have cliff jumped off of 28 meters (unfortunately after a few beers) and the fall time & impact is overwhelming. My equilibrium was super messed up and it felt like I had cracked my tailbone. How skilled you have to be to pull off almost a 200ft jump is next level...

I did this but much shorter distance. The problem, if you are not aware, is that when you hit the water, the bottom of your shoes, if angled the wrong way can cause your leg from the knee down to shoot out in an undesirable direction with a lot of force. I ended up laying on the shore for about fifteen minutes in pain because one of my knees was Seriously hyper-extended. It's been 30 years since my jump and I still have a weak knee from it.

This is amazing. Love all the comments of others jumping off crazy heights too. When I was kid I used to freeze at the edge of the 5m board at our local pool and would end up climbing back down the ladders when I was bone dry... The shame 😂

I jumped off a 30' ledge into a lake at a bad forward angle. I didn't think a person could have the wind so violently knocked out of the lungs and not die as a result. Controlling desperate panic saved me from drowning, a skill learned while surfing.

It's actually perfectly safe to jump from almost any height.

It's just the landing bit that can suck...

Professional divers do call feet first entry into the water a dive....especially from that height. His neck would break if he went head first. The fact that he can even crawl is miraculous 👏

I used to jump off the quarries in Quincy, MA. The highest I ever jumped from was around 80'. That was into a much bigger water landing and that was scary as sh!t. This is almost 200'! This guy is truly insane.

As a non-diver, this is impressive AF. If I were a diver, I can imagine this is way more impressive than that.

One shot with full scale and no music would have been nice to give a pure feeling.
Other than that, crazy and congrats!

If I ever want to go from 6'3" to 5'8" in under 10 seconds, this is it. What a trooper this guy is. I am on my 10th view and still blown away

Wish they’d show how they built that platform…impressive.

I've jumped a 70ft cliff when I was much younger and the impact is so intense at that height, I honestly can't fathom doubling that height PLUS, and surviving?? Craziness.
There was another cliff about 120ft that I know took the lives of a few daring teens throughout the years, but I did witness one Pro jump that successfully took it on and landed it. I remember thinking.... " am I about to witness someone's death??" 😟
No, he actually worked for a theme park as a High diver and knew what he was doing. Crazy brave...

When was a kid I remember competitors jumping off a 170-ish foot scaffold into a pool surrounded by an arena of spectators in San Diego. It was touted as world record event. The difference then is they were all wearing Speedos and doing flips and turns before lining up to land feet first.
Crazy stuff. Exciting.
But there wasn't a rock face cliff to avoid and the pool was huge.
Kudos here on the record!
