Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines with the most innovative camera technologies and immersive filmmaking editing techniques on YouTube!

Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!

On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines, hike or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with interesting artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old miners and prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.

A&FP moves just a bit slower and is filmed with a completely different style as compared to other mine exploring channels on YouTube. “Gly”, your host, discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.

DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!

Gly approaches abandoned mine exploration with a strong emphasis on safety, utilizing appropriate equipment, training, and extensive experience to minimize risks. While it’s indisputable that exploring abandoned mines poses significant dangers, Gly's background in mining, coupled with over 30 years of experience in this field, equips him with a deep understanding of mining history, techniques, and mine layout, as well as a lifelong interest in amateur geology and two decades of experience in explosives regulation.

I giggled when you fangirled over the timbers Wyatt Earp may have touched.
I would too if I was familiar with them.

On a side note, a friend had to touch Bob Marley's couch that is on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she got yelled at.

To add a bit of context, Wyatt and his brothers, after their little adventures in AZ, shall we say, headed up here to the NW. He ended his days in Idaho, not too far east of Spokane, WA. He specialized in picking up claims - note that I don't call it "buying" or "finding" claims. Sure, he did some claim work, but there's at least one incident near Colville, WA (north of Spokane) where he showed up at a silver/lead claim in the Old Dominion area east of Colville, and only 1 miner had been left with the mine. Faced with an Earp and his men, this poor miner gave up pretty fast, as the story goes, so Wyatt has at least a small incident that may have been more claim-jumping than claim-finding. There are some good books about Wyatt's adventures and later life in the NW to add to the story! Thanks for showing us one of his AZ mines!

I will tell you one thing is your production value is most definitely the highest of any other abandon mines exploration channels. Such great work. "Man's Got To Know His Limitations" I know Clint said that famous line in one of his Dirty Harry movies. I think it was Magnum Force. So true though.

Got my two malachite rocks in the mail on Friday—they are both spectacular samples! I also loved that you did a video of walking around the rock/mineral show on the Gly channel—that was really cool—like I was right there with ya’ll picking them out. I have to say lapis is another one of my favorite stones, and I don’t think I’m the only one that would snap up a lapis sphere. Cheers🎉

I hope you two took a good look at all the timber. Just to see if there were any names carved in. That would be awesome. Love the work you've been doing. Keep it up my friend.
