Not sure the story here, but I'm kinda thinking Deceit was shielding Thomas from the apocalypse, like trying to preserve Thomas' innocence from the horrors beyond. But then someone (possibly the 'light' sides, particularly Logan as logic) take Thomas away at 0:41... and now Thomas sees the ruined world that Deceit had been trying to hide him from. And Deceit feels like he failed Thomas, thus the change in appearance... also that angry look towards Remus (0:47). The image of Deceit's hand, I originally heard "I'm the one that's not too ready" before Thomas grabbed Deceit's finger instead of "I'm the one, there's not too many". And the following line, "Hold my hand to keep me steady" Thomas' memory is the only thing keeping Deceit sane, probably the only reason he continues on.

oKay so Theory Time:
At the beginning, "I'm not yours, and you're not mine."
I think maybe Deceit saved Small Thomas from something or someone, and they had a dad and son relationship afterwards.
They lived all good for a while, but then someone took Thomas away, and I think it might've been Remus or someone else. There's also the chance he's hurt or dead, as in "Soldier, Poet, King" Meme, he's covered in blood.
As seen at 0:47, Remus is leading something, and he looks like a king. Deceit is walking around, and I think he might be looking for Thomas.
I dunno, that's just a theory

Edit: for context, this video hit my feelings and tugged at my heart, so I watched it a few hundred more times, and at the thing with "Deceit" on the floor, reaching out for Thomas as he is being lead away, if you pause it, you can see that he is injured. He has a cut through his eye, broken glasses, and obvious cuts on his leg, all he can do is watch as Thomas us being lead away, and Thomas doesn't quite understand what's happening.
