Fertility center wrongly used embryo with cancer gene in IVF treatment: lawsuit

A couple is suing its fertility clinic, Huntington Reproductive Center, alleging it used an embryo with a cancer gene for IVF treatments.

Oh Jesus that is horrible. I hope they get millions in a lawsuit. By the way I had my stomach removed in 2014 but not for cancer but because of gastroparesis meaning it was paralyzed along with my intestines. But during surgery my team of doctors found a tumor in my stomach and bowels called Gastrointestinal stromal tumor. It was found very early on and I didn't need chemo or radiation to treat the cancer. All I needed was 85-90% of my stomach removed. I've been cancer free since October 22, 2014. I do have a feeding tube but I'm fine with it.

It's not the clinic's fault if someone has defective genes. If you have a certain gene, then that's encoded into the DNA in nearly every cell in your body. Hoping not to pass along a certain trait that you already have is a gamble that is not in your favor. Picking your kid's genetics? We're not there yet. Also, if you feed him nutritious food, he might be able to avoid that fate altogether. It's not a sentence.
