Mentalist Lior Suchard exposed live on tv

TWO THINGS:

1. People are saying no "exposing" was done in the video.
Well, it wasn't done explicitly. But the video poster directs you to listen to what the woman says at 2:52. She makes it clear that Suchard is not just pulling this stuff out of the air on the spur of the moment. He did prep work. How much prep work? What kind? We don't know. It seems obvious that she wasn't supposed to say that, but her saying it demonstrates that possibly EVERYTHING they did was prepped. It's still amazing and baffling, but it is NOT mind reading. Suchard set them up.

2. I do not pretend to know how he pulled all this off, even with prepping. But I do know one thing: THERE IS A WAY TO TELL if someone can do "real" magic or mind reading, or has real psychic powers:
The one who uses tricks always maintains control.

Take a card trick for example. The "magician" has control over what deck of cards is used. He (or she) may use YOUR deck of cards for some tricks, because those tricks don't require special cards, or cards in a pre-arranged order. He decides what trick will be done. He decides when and where, and with whom the trick will be done. He decides who, if anyone, will hold the cards, shuffle the decks, pick a card, and when they will do so. He controls what will be done, by whom, in what order.

Someone with real paranormal abilities will not need to control things in this way.
Watch and listen again from 3:07 in this video. The host says, "I'm thinking of a two-digit number." HE took control. HE chose what feat would be performed (a very simple one, simpler than what Suchard had done up until then).
And what does Suchard say? "I'll do something better than that."
Better? Bullshit. That is the moment that Suchard takes control back. He refused to do the super-simple mind-reading feat, and instead did the trick that HE decided, using HIS dice.

Now, ask yourself: How many times have you seen a magician or psychic or mind reader be told by someone else what feat to perform (Give me the name of my second boyfriend, not my first pet), when (Tell me what image is in my mind before I draw it, not after), and where (Stand here on the stage, not there).
Never?
Right.
Now guess how many people there are who actually have paranormal powers.

I'm a professional magician who also performs mentalism as part of my regular magic act. Some of you folks need to relax and realize that this is just entertainment. There is nothing to "expose, " because this man is an actor playing the role of a mindreader.

If he were to tell you it's "just a trick, " that would be breaking character and destroying the entertainment. He's not a liar; he's just an entertainer.

the cube is a gadget, which ever number is on top it sends him a signal to a device on his body, this is why he requires then to know what number it is, and this is why the cube must touch the table, there is a wireless connection that triggers a pulsing somewhere on his body, if it is 6 it pulses 6 times and then stop then pulses 6 times and and then stop, same with all the other numbers.



its all gadgets, and with the internet you can know A LOT of things about people, especially if you can get a hold of there search results or people who are related to them etc... he goes to a show he does his home work, sometimes he places fakes in the crowd to make it seem more legitimate that he just reads minds, but come on, it is just tricks and illusions.

Title is misleading - Suchard was not "exposed" in this clip. He did his thing, and the hosts were amazed or, at the least, stumped. It's a bit confusing as to what is going on in his dialogue with the woman, as at first they're talking about her cat, then he refers to her dog. The poster directs us to 2:52, where we see he asked her to write down the name of the pet at the prior commercial break. I don't see what this is supposed to prove or indicate.

Could any of the professional magicians/mentalists commenting here please tell us lay people how he's doing these things? I would really love to know.

For this trick: we get a clue to the off-camera conversation where Lior asked her to think of a her pet's name before filming started again, so that's how Lior knows. She had to write it down on a piece of paper, which Lior would have handled and peeked or used a specialist memtalist pad that retains the information (available at any magic shop).

She says at 2:53: 'He asked us at the commercial break and I wrote it down'.

Why did she have to write it down? Why? If he is really reading her MIND, why does it need to be on a piece of paper? Because this is how these mentalism tricks work, by extracting information off-camera and then later 'revealing' it.

This explanation is not just a guess, I've studied mentalism and magic for decades. It's nothing to do with body language or supernatural powers. I just wish Lior would admit that it's a trick and let us admire that skill as a magician, instead of this bullshit about 'reading minds'. Derren Brown has been very successful with that honest approach, admitting that he's not 'psychic' yet he's much admired for his skill as a performer. When a magician does a trick, he doesn't claim to have a superpower but we still enjoy the 'magic'. In short, there's no need to be a liar Lior!
