Hello, just want to let you know that this product contains HF or Hydrofluoric Acid and is detrimental to you because it readily penetrates the skin and dissociates into fluoride ions, causing destruction of deep tissue layers, including bone. Pain associated with skin exposure to HF may not occur for 1-24 hours. Unless you can rapidly neutralize the HF and bind the fluoride ions, tissue destruction may continue for days and result in limb loss or death. Hydrofluoric acid vapors are also an inhalation hazard and can cause ocular irritation. If you continue to use it please wear gloves and an acid fume mask, don't breath the water mist as you are rinsing it off. Just an FYI.

Just picked up an 87 GTI a week ago and the wheels(and paint and interior lol) were hammered, watched this video yesterday, lucked out and my local O’Reillys had a couple in stock. Went with almost a 1:1 mix with tap water in the spray bottle. Absolutely amazing on the wheels, but I wouldn’t breathe much of it or get any on you, use caution! But less than 10 minutes of cautious use to clean all 4 highly neglected wheels leaves plenty of time for personal protection. Seriously that fast, minimal agitation with a brush, Scotty you saved me hours of detail scrubbing, these are the VW snowflake wheels, a hundred nooks and crannies. Like you state in the video, this isn’t for every application but is a fantastic tool to have in the cleaning arsenal. Thank you!

Thanks for this video man, excellent. Here in UK we have a product called wonder wheels. Great acid cleaner, people have been programmed to think they're bad. But as a go to for really sintered brake dust it's the business! I love how you also showed to neutralise it with a shampoo. That's what we do, stops staining and deterioration. Well done man, again, super helpful!

My local oreillys could only find a 16-ounce spray of the wheel cleaner, didn't show it listed as a gallon option

I use a acid based aluminum brightener on my semi wheels from a company called Utility Trailers. There in a lot of cities. $20 a gallon. Does not disappoint.

I was using Spoke by Auto Magic which works real good but its $40/gallon at DSI Automotive. That's it ! Im changing to this Superior Wire Wheel Cleaner which ill bet is the same exact stuff as what Auto Magic uses but 1/2 the cost. Thanks Dallas PC !

Could you do a video on how to fix the clear coat on wheels like that? My wheels are clean, just has that faded look.

If the acid lighty tarnishes your aluminum. You can easily give it a quick shine with any aluminum polisher.

Dang Scott you are a wealth of information my man I appreciate everything you do for us...!!!

I’m in need of a more heavier duty cleaner than wheel brightener, my f-250 kicks up brake dust like a mother and I wash it once a month so the brake dust is really on there by the time I DO wash it, hopefully this’ll do the trick. Thanks Scott !!

I use HF acid in a hobby of mine occasionally. I am unsure if a car soap dilution will neutralize this acid. But I know for certain what does and does it very quickly - - - Baking Soda. When working with this or Pretty much any other acid, the rule of thumb is to have a container of Baking soda within arms reach prior to uncapping the acid. This way it is there incase of accidental spill or if any gets on your skin or clothes.
The ethical (and very likely legal) method of handling acid when you get done playing with it is not to wash it into the ground, but to completely neutralize it. AKA - sprinkle it with baking soda - once the baking soda reacts with the acid it will start to fizz, when the fizzing stops the acid is neutralized.
although beware because i haven't tried it, but if you think of mixing a heavy baking soda and water mixture to spray on the wheel, test this first because i have seen some material dye green from the reaction - although mostly the material that dyes green i noticed was porus which shouldnt be the case for wheels just letting yall know.
happy sanding!
