Custom 24 SE Modifications

My new PRS Custom 24 SE gets new PRS USA parts, a custom truss rod cover, custom control plates, a tuner upgrade, strap locks, and a new input jack.

I just finished a similar mod on my PRS SE Standard; lampshade knobs and PRS SE locking tuners. I have the vintage cherry model. Lampshade knobs are a perfect aesthetic upgrade. They change the "value" of the look of the guitar instantly. PRS SE Lockers dropped right in with no issues. I have the MannMade lockers on my PRS SE 245. They are great quality and a nice upgrade - but - I like the PRS SE brand a little better because of the brass shaft. The PRS brand has a brass shaft, the John Mann brand does not. I am also not sure what the John Mann tuners cost, but the PRS branded lockers were $95. I love my PRS SE guitars and the fact that they can easily (and inexpensively) be upgraded is a bonus. Chad, I wanted to say Thank You for posting this video and sharing your simple and effective "mod hacks." I just purchased the LTD Charcoal Cherry Fade and using your techniques; I also replaced with the following: SE Locking Tuners, PRS (core) Humbucker Angle Rings, PRS (core) Lampshade knobs (ACC-4246), PRS (core) Black Switch-Tip (ACC-4131). I'll probably swap the stock 85/15 "S" PUPs with PRS 57/08's next year. Thanks Again, Brother. Stay Safe during these unprecedented times.

I have 5 core PRS Guitars and 3 SE guitars. I've upgraded the SE Paul's Guitar and just two weeks ago purchased an SE Santana Abraxas 50 limited edition. I put core lampshade knobs on it, Core PRS nut, Core US CTS Pots, a custom treble bleed with a .33 PH capacitor, The New PRS SE locking tuners that have the raw brass shafts, big brass block, US strap buttons, and had the fretboard rounded over into the frets. It's absolutely amazing.

Recently I got a 2019 PRS SE 24 Roasted Maple Neck LE Green QM...
Made the following upgrades: Swicthcraft #11 Input, PRS USA 5-way Switch Black to replace the push-pull system, PRS USA Volume & Tone Pots with PRS USA Black lampshade knobs, Gotoh SG381 MGT Locking Tuners since the PRS locking ones are super overpriced, D'addario NYXL 1046BT, and NOW the biggest improvement was the Bare Knuckle Abraxas Pickups Set with Burnt Chrome Covers. It made the guitar sound absolutely amazing!!! I cannot express how much joy I have every time I look at it and pick it up to play. $500 for the used Guitar in Mint Condition + the upgrades still under 1K. Totally Worthy!!!
My local luthier at @Mike's Guitar in Hermosa Beach, CA made all the work TOP NOTCH Highly recommended.

I really like the 24 SE, got one too. But the first thing I would (and did) change are the pickups.

Holy cow that is some kinda georgeous. Would you consider epoxy filling the hole before screwing the strap lock button in. it would stop the chance of an air gap trying to push the screw out. My output jack is almost always loose. I may just or some lock tite on and call it a day. I was shocked at how polished an se was compared to similar priced guitars. You literally have to spend more than 2x to get a similarly smooth real rosewood fingerboard and ss frets.

I have an SE which I modded with some Grover locking tuners and a DiMarzio Norton/Air Norton set. I also set the bridge flush for better resonance and tuning stability. Terrific guitar!
