Love the father son videos! "I shouldn't of listened to my dad" haha

in open diff rigs you should take a slower approach. left foot brake about 30-50% and easy on the gas, you'll trick the diff into transferring power to the other wheel. probably walk right up that.

When Roman showed up with the door to a mine 😂

This double feature was so good I'm watching it on my TV for Saturday morning! I loved cutting between the hill and the rollers showing real world and testing side by side and then a prime example at the end with Caron's! Thanks guys!

Superb!
Agree with all who note the great father-son aspect of this series.

The old mine board trick(with pushing) was simultaneously sublime and dangerous.
Wish I could say I had never done similar x 10

I wish my father was into jeeps or offroading. Dude just wants to golf and play platform paddle tennis. 🤷‍♂️ You guys are lucky to have that common interest.

With an auto in 4Lo, the old trick is not the hand brake but to use your brakes. The hand brake is for use in a RWD. Using the brakes will help distribute torque on both the front and rear axles.

At 9:35 on the video: You almost for sure have a factory, Trac Loc limited slip rear diff that is very worn. The clutch packs in those units would wear out but yours still offers a very little bit of limited slip action on a level surface. You should check into this and maybe replace the clutch packs, if in fact it is a limited slip.

Your guest with his Jeep was great on camera and the discussion with him was awesome to be a fly on the wall. Thanks Carston

I got to 5:41 on the video, and I stopped to post this. I'm guessing that your Cheap Jeep has the optional factory, Trac Loc, limited slip rear differential, thus the ability to drive off the diagonal rollers. The Trac Loc was a great option, although nowhere near as good as a true locking differential.

Love what your doing with your TJ and the blue Jeep on love my ride is sweet. You asked about other cheep Jeeps, I paid
$5000.00 for my 98 TJ and by building my own bumpers and rock sliders and doing all the work myself I only have about another $6000.00 in the build, build includes 8.8 Explorer rear axle with 4.56 gears and Detroit locker, front 4.56 gears with Detroit Trutrac, zone 4" springs with a Rough Country long arm upgrade kit and a Smittybuilt 8000 lbs winch. Its my daily driver with 244, 000 miles and works great off road. Keep up the good work on your TJ. lop

You need to air down more about 12-15 psi and get quick sway bar disconnects! You will thank me

Very cool 2 for 1 vid ...1) controlled vs real world, too many unknown variables in the real world. Glad you didn’t bounce off anything & Glad Roman didn’t get hurt ... never place yourself between a ton of weight & a unmovable object ( Jeep & Tree ) & tires kick up debris ( door )
2) awesome Jeep build ... all in he’s still way ahead of a new Rubicon & less than half the price.

First thing I bought for my Jeep from the list of things to buy was a winch. Then continued from there.. Enjoying all the Jeep videos.

Was out in Colorado recently with friends and took my Forester to Gold Mine hill to try my hand at it. Had the same trouble at stage 2 under similar conditions. Sadly without a spotter to help me navigate it I eventually had to give up. Even with traction control and good tires that snow and slush on top of mud, with that off camber hill is very difficult to get any traction on. Kudos to you guys for making it past with that door, wish I'd had my traction mats with me when I was there.

Carsten's TJ looks amazing. I have a 19 Cherokee Trailhawk and I'm jealous. And it's definately true what they say about the size the new ones look humongous comparitavley to the JK/JL.

The headlights are a must for jeeps that go anywhere at night. The JW speakers are an amazing spread with good color.
