Have you been wondering what the allay is based off, if goat horns and bundles are included in The Wild Update, or if we use Blockbench to build our models? You’re in luck, because we’ve got answers aplenty! We also have a special message regarding questions about fireflies and birch forests being added to Minecraft, so tune in and keep sending us your questions!

The whole point of the wild update seems to be missing after cancelling two major wild features. This update doesn't feel wild anymore with only mangrove forest as wild element. We would really love if developers reconsider this and add more wild features to this update. I guess its okey for developers to take more time to present wild update to its full potential after seeing what they really can in the Caves and Cliffs update.

Fireflies should still be added just for ambience if nothing else. Also, the Ancient Cities really need better loot. As a Hardcore player, I'm not likely to risk my world to the Warden for a music disc and a compass that is completely useless in Hardcore.

They don't have to be edible for frogs for us to enjoy the visual improvements that the fireflies would add to the game overall

if frogs can’t eat them, then don’t have the frogs eat them. you dont need to completely scrap them.

The "Wild Update" is currently showing a distressing lack of updates to the wilderness. This would have been the perfect time to update the Savanna, Desert, and Badlands as well as the Swamp. I mean, you guys DID promise to update them as well.

Just add the fireflies as ambient mobs! They can be just like bats: no drops, no uses, just adding some atmosphere.

The birch forests were, like, half the reason it was even named the Wild Update. If you want to show things you're working on that haven't been confirmed for the game, that's fine. I like that. But make it clear that that's what you're doing. This concept art wasn't framed as "here are some ideas we've had, but we're not sure yet, " it was framed as "this is going to be half of the update, and we've named it the Wild Update partly because of this."
What's disappointing here isn't that you showed concept art. It's that the way you framed it and highlighted it led us to believe that it was something bigger.

remove splash potions, kids might more likely break glass bottles in the floor and get some shards inside their hands than picking a firefly and forcefully feed it to a frog

Firefly’s would add so much ambience. Just make it so that the frogs don’t eat them. They’d be awesome for ambiance, would look awesome in a jar or bottle, should add a lot to exploration simply for the aesthetic and increased awe and wonder.

Add fireflies back but make it so if you use a Glass Bottle on them, you can make a new type of low light source

I think fireflies could be added independently of the frogs- still added, just not edible.

The update is a lot less wild without the fireflies and birch forest updates. Please add them even if the fireflies aren’t edible.

After all these corrections, why is this update still called WILD update? We didn't want fireflies in the game as food for frogs, we wanted them as something, which can improve ambience (the main thing, which WILD update claimed to improve and the only thing it didn't even touch). No birch forest update(which you DID promise to update anyway, maybe not like what is shown in the art), no regular swamp update, no fireflies, no other tiny improvements to other biomes' atmosphere. What an update!

Community: "We want the fireflies back!"

Mojang: *Excuse me I think the word you're searching for is chat reporting.*

Wild update originally seemed like a brilliant idea but as time's progressed it seems like more of a mixed bag of features we were promised and then stripped down to the point where they are no longer meaningful.

The concept of having "particle mobs" is interesting: a group of small "mobs" which are just particle effects, adding ambiance to the world but also being able to migrate ever so slowly from position to position and interact with the world in minor ways. Fireflies could work like this, along with the previously showcased termites and perhaps (hear me out) flies, which frogs could also eat.

This isn’t even a wild update anymore, it feels like a mild update.

Nice! Next time on Minecon show us a new mob (dragon for example) and after one year say: “dudes, hey, it was just a picture! Not a commitment!”

fireflies are still very beautiful aesthetically, they dont need to have a function like getting eaten by frogs they make the game a whole lot prettier
