Say I wanted to wire a outlet on the right side box off the switch and have power all the time. Is this possible?

Thanks
In this setup, is there a way to have the outlet in the box on the right? Say, if you wanted the outlet on the other wall.

Awesome video, great explanation. I only have 1 question, what if I wanted to put an outlet on the other 3 way switch running to the light? Would I tap into the common on that switch with a wago nut? I assume it’ll work but only when the switch is on and that’s ok since I use Alexa enabled devices it’s always on anyway.

Thanks for your video and step by step instructions.

I recently added a 120V receptacle to my three way hall lighting using your video instructions. For reasons I cannot explain the outlet is non-operative. With the lights off the tester shows
“Hot/neutral reversed”. With the lights on tester shows “Hot/Ground reversed “.

The wiring is according to your description but the outlet is not working!

There’s a pigtail neutral from the spliced neutral to the outlet and a pigtail from the power source to the outlet. The grounds are spliced together.

Any ideas? Thanks.

What if you want the power plug on the other switch where it only has the travel wires.

Thank you for your Instructional videos. I find them very useful as a newbie DIYer.

I have a question, how would the setup/installation differ if I wanted to have the receptacle in the second box?.

Thank you in advance for your response

Awesome video, with this set up, where the power source is coming into the box on the left, would it be possible to install an outlet on the box to the right?

Excellent explanation with end-to-end hands on demo; Always wanted to add an outlet to my 3 way switch but was not 100% confident; No I am clear about how to do it.

I used your 3 way video yesterday for wiring both of my kitchen switches. Thanks for the well shown and explained info.

I would be happy if I could buy some plain green wire sleeving so I could sleeve my ground wires at devices. The Brits do this right.

Sparky,
I’ve done a lot of electrical work over the years and have question. The way i was taught was to install reception with the ground up as you showed in your video. It was explained as what is required for government facilities. Elsewhere (non-government) I’ve seen the ground is installed down. Do you know why?

Bill. If you were building a new home, would you use metal boxes for all switches and receptacles? Also, would you use mud rings on each?

Since 2011 NEC code calls for a neutral wire in both switch boxes.
