Don't Buy The Wrong Camera! Which Sony in 2023?

After using all the cameras I talk about in this video I do feel very confident to recommend certain cameras and I know most of the pros and cons of each cameras.

For video creators, definitely DON'T buy the Sony Alpha A1 for $5000 or more - it's just over priced for video recording - an absolutely awesome photo camera but not for video. For video content creation, I'm now using the FX30 for talking head, livestreaming with recording, and long interviews (no overheating) and for higher resolution product shots and TV comparisons it's the A7iv. A1 now sitting on Ebay waiting for somebody willing to buy it for $4700 (still no takers after a month)

The Sony A7IV was my workhorse in 2022 as well. Agreed the most versatile of all of them . This year I am using the A7RV for photography work paired with FX30 for video. Appreciate all your videos in 22. Look forward to enjoying more this year. Have a great one.

I bought the hybrid A7iv and love love it. It is perfect for my Canada digital marketing agency run and gun style. I intend to earn the right to enter the cinema line of 4k120 once I’m schooled on Slog3/dcine video jobs with clients. These cameras are super computers and the new Sony nav is so much more intuitive. I can do amazing photography and switch into video production mode in an instant. The learning curve has been intense last 10 months but I’ve come so far. Another 2 years and we shall see what camera calls.

Just traded my A7 IV in for the A7CII and I absolutely love it. It’s like a dream camera for being such a powerful hybrid, compact, and aesthetic design. Loving it!

I Love the a7s3 and FX30 for video, but you cant go wrong with the a74 for versatility.

The info in this video is awesome! I upgraded to the a7iii a few years ago and I found that Sony’s hybrids work best for me personally. I really wanted that a7siii for filming and low-light, but weighing the pros and cons (coming from a well used Canon 7D), I went for the extra megapixels with photography.

Anyone who is looking to upgrade, I think Sony’s hybrid models are an unbelievably worthwhile bang-for-buck.

I'm a Nikon fan boy in my senior years and it seems I'm now conscious of the weight of my DSLRs and lenses on my backpack. I can always leave them behind in my travels but I don't want to stop taking photos. I'm now in the hunt for small light point-and-shoot zooms that bake raw files and jpegs. I know Sony has this RX100 series I can go to.

I think they will release the a7000 series in the next 1 or 2 months. Maybe starting with a new APSC flagship model and then releasing a more affordable model during this year. They simply have to do this, because they now have a new generation of apsc sensor and the other brands are pushing their apsc lines aggressively. But it will be interesting of how they set the price point and how this will suit in the current pricing. This is why I think, you should wait a few more weeks, if you are looking for a camera right now.

I have had the Sony a6500 for around 5 years. It’s great for a family camera especially coupled with the Sony 24mm, F1.8 lens. I also like the internal flash. It’s fine for my needs. I struggle some with low light situations which a FF lens would help, but can’t justify at the price output even with trading in all my E-mount lenses. Maybe someday I’ll consider a video camera and try to create stills from the video. Have you had success with that approach? Thanks.

I shoot video and stills with a7siii for real estate … love it!! I can tell you the white balance is amazing for those who use flash … Just makes life easier in post production… I’m still learning the intricacies of shooting in slog3 and color grading the footage accurately which is tough… Film makers can grade slog to their style, In real estate you have to remember what you saw at the property, but the dynamic range is insane.. Do you think that camera will ever have the ability to shoot in a picture profile with the dynamic range ability of slog 3, that is usable right out camera with just minor tweaks in post ….? Awesome channel my man!
