I heard so many negative things about London before I went that I almost regretted going there instead of somewhere else for my study abroad...But most of what I heard was bullshit.
1) The food is actually good!
2) The city is not dirty, its pretty clean really.
3) Girls are very attractive, especially downtown. 
4) EVERYONE treated me nicely, in some cases too nicely. I am an American so i expected to get dirty looks but i was always treated with respect. People kept buying me drinks i dont know why.
5) There is much history....If you enjoy historical monuments and museums you will be in heaven.
6) Some of the clubs such as ministry of sound and Fabric were MIND BLOWING. 
7) Love the pub scene. 
8) Weather during the summer is often pretty good, a slight bit muggy.

York and Bath both amazing. I have them on my top 10 England video (which was lost due to a hard drive frying) dang it. but yes, true England there. and just gorgeous cities

I live in England and I've been to London a few times. Love it! Although every time I've been the weather has been relatively nice and sunny. Although you'd definitely need a jacket or the like, just in case.

Just got back from London. Your pretty spot on with your comments. Loved the pubs and restaurants, but the service was no where near to the attentiveness you get in the US. Probably because in the US you need to earn your tips, so you get much better service.
