Commander [Gen2] - Front/Advanced Installation [Model 3/Y 2021-2024]

This video demonstrates how to install your Gen2 Commander inside your Tesla Model 3/Y, built between 2021 and 2024 [except model 3 Highland], at the front right A-pillar.

Mind boggling how easy this is and how much value you get out of this. I did mine a month ago and it took about 20 min. I just did it in my wife's and it took all of 5 min. Its kind of beautiful when you get in there, its like Tesla is waiting for a s3xy commander to be plugged in.

Just a heads up, if you have a Right Hand drive car the pannel you need to go into is the drivers side, (Right hand side of the car which would be the passenger on the left hand market).

I spent an hour trying to work out why I couldn't find the port on the passengers side whcih would be on the left hand side of the car.

1 - Can I run Teslogic along with S3XY buttons?
2 - Will you soon have S3XY dashboard features like them, so no need for them?
3 - I miss some of the display features of the original beta dashboard. Like accelerator pedal % and red zone showing where kickdown occurs. Thanks..

I would recommend to people to place the S3XY cable directly into the Tesla port first. I'm mentioning this as I have a Hansshow F69 display and the OBD cable for expansion is not complete from Hansshow (meaning the Hannshow cabling is NOT complete and the commander will not work). The Enhance cable IS complete and can be daisy chained.

All I'm saying is go Tesla OBD port, Enhance connector/cable, then Hansshow connector. Do NOT go Tesla port, Hansshow connector/cable, then Enhance cable (it won't work).

I also saw a different installation method for Model Y in the drivers foot room. What is the preferred installation method for a MIB Model Y built in 2024?

Thanks for the video. Fyi the front installation works for very few Intel processors too. Productions delivered on December 2021 already had the new connectors at the front even though they are on Intel. I have this setup and it works 👍🏻

Installing my first of these for a customer. Going to connect it to the front, given extra functionality that expects to enable in time. But the back center connector has a 2 pin black connector as part of the pass through. And this video shows connection to the white 10 pin double row connector. What are both of these needed for? More power that isn't available via the respective area larger connectors. There is seemingly no mate for the rear pass through 2 pin cable, also.

Can't believe how easy this was. I am not very handy, I did it outside in the dark of night, and the connectors were hidden away pretty good compared to the video. I still did it very easily, probably in around 10 minutes or so. Can't recommend enough. The Knob blends in perfectly with the interior. ALMOST looks factory installed.

I like the idea of the functions that the gen 2 commander can do… but I really don’t want buttons or knob. Can they be all accessed via the app? Is there anything the buttons can do over the app?

It looks like the manual wiper controls are broken after the big 2024.14.3 sw update here in Australia. Not able to control the wipers using the knob whatever I choose just goes back to what’s on Tesla screen! Also, it won’t follow the auto off when in auto pilot as well. Pls fix!

My 2024 modle Y SR has the grey connector instead of bule one, should I use this port?
