I don’t know how it is in other country’s but in france the volcas have a strong aftermaket presence, you can pick most of them is great conditions for 70-100 depending on the model. Started playing around with a volca sample picked up for 70€ and added a modular found at 90, both in great conditions. Might not be ideal for a gift but if you are watching this like me for ideas for yourselves definitely look into 2nd hand

Psst... Do more content on that zoom cdr multi-fx, please.

Also, fwiw, the "hack" is just library software for the firmware that can exchange modules between the three pedals in that series and changes made are easily reversible. There are actual hardware hacks, too, but that's a whole different can of worms.

It’s a good list and I agree with everything. But I must admit I didn’t know about the H1N. Recorders are a undiscovered area for me, and I really appreciate a decent entry level one!

Hey great video! Also if you have noise with the NTS-1 try a ground loop isolator, the nts is somewhat noisy when sent through high gain fx due to the rf from the screen. Works for me since I use it with other distortion/saturator pedals, and any small noise will be amplified drastically. Lots of other great gift ideas to consider also, very helpful vid! 😁

Totally agree with this list, some absolute budget bad boys in here to get somebody started. So glad you mentioned cables as it's so overlooked in terms of gifts. An adaptor alongside some of these products could mean the difference between sounding Gucci to sounding more out of step than having two left feet.

If I was to give my 2c/a counter list. Somewhat subjective as it depends what you think of as budget.

I'd personally ask Santa for; keystep 37, Korg nts-1, po33 for drums, Korg Mikrokorg and an entry level looper like the boss rc202. Circa 850£ if buying new, considerably less If buying second hand.

If there's any more relatives to ask for gifts I'd go with the Zoom H2N as my audio recorder as I find it has better features and I find it better at recording more subtle ambient samples specifically due to the extra mics.

For the following year/birthday or whatever comes first. I'd ask for a second nts-1, and some sort of decent multi fx pedal like the generation loss series, hologram Microcosm or similar.

End of the day it comes down to the user. Surprises are nice sometimes. However I'd also argue anybody who is into this 'fortay' would prefer to be asked what gear they want rather than just assuming

Excellent content again. I became a Patreon supporter. I generally don't like auto-bill. But I like this channel so much I want to support it.

I didn't realise how much I enjoyed crafting synths after using the M8 Tracker FM synthesiser, I've learned so much from Impbox Impbox the last couple of days in just two of their videos!
I know you have got a Polyend, so hopefully it might still apply?
But the M8 is a bigger brother version of LSDJ and will definitely still apply!

Great video, I loved the first two elements especially: they are so overlooked! ♥️🤗

It's funny i didn't see any mention of pocket operators. I just been browsing for them and they are not as cheap anymore. I'm kicking myself for not buying the po-137 when it was cheaper. I have several but still need/want the speak and office.

Another great useful video. Not sure if you have done a video before on how to connect different gear together?

Hi the problem old school hardware is you more and more to fill the if you had a volca FM you need a drum kit and a lead voice.

How would you say the H1N recorder compare to studio microphones like the Shure SM57?

Been pondering adding one to record low brass from a second further position in the room vs running a long cable. Plus, I guess since recently getting into synths it could possibly double for on-the-go recording of my Korgs.

You say the Korg Volca’s make their own sounds, do they have an internalised speaker, or do you need to connect your own speaker/amp?

Edit: Great video as always!

Can the minilab be used to control a volca and without a computer being involved? I'm assuming the USB C can be used to power it from the wall?

Curious about the NTS-1: I think that whenever I route something through it, the signal becomes a lot quieter. Do you use an amplifier at the output of it?

Those Minilab controllers are very unreliable. After a while the keybed stops working and some keys won’t respond. It’s junk.
