Howdy! I've been looking around for cheap gear that's actually awesome, and I wanted to share this really affordable effects pedal that's insanely powerful.

I’ve had the Zoom MS-50G for several years, and it’s pretty much the same but with amp and cab models for guitar and bass. You can’t beat it for the price and portability.

FYI: A company called ToneLib has a free Zoom software editor for controlling parameters on your computer for lots of Zoom pedals including this and the MS-50G.

A marriage made in heaven. I have x2 Zoom 70's. One for my Microfreak and the other for my Korg Monologue.

Great video, and I was totally thrilled that the MS-70CDR is getting some much deserved love. I think it's awesome, despite some idiosyncrasies. There is another pedal I bought a couple of years ago, which is another HUGE bang for the buck and sounds amazing, but gets little to no attention on the interwebs. It's the Mooer Audio Ocean Machine. It's a dual delay + reverb with a lot of bells and whistles. I would LOVE it if you did a video on that thing....

I actually use three MS-70CDR's in my shoegaze band, where I play guitar and a Microfreak. the first one is at the very start of my guitar pedalboard, and I've loaded it up with a chain that includes a noise suppressor, a gate, some EQ, and some light compression. if you hold down the foot pedal for a moment, it enters tuner mode. so this one pedal takes the place of 4-5. the next one I use as Zoom intended. once I have a chain of effects that works for a particular song, I save it under the name of the song so I can easily swap back and forth when I'm playing live. the third one I use with my Microfreak. I modified the firmware so that it also has some of fuzzes and distortions from the MS-50G. they make the Microfreak sound so fat and warm!

Have one. It's a must have. I reserved an aux/send on my Mackie just for her, always in place.

Cool stuff! Cheap hardware doesn't mean "bad hardware".

You should definitely do voice overs. You have the voice for commercials and other voice over stuff 👍🏻👍🏻. Great content by the way

Very tasteful same-hand pitch bends during your demos! I use a Neunaber Immerse Mk2 with my Microfreak but the little Zoom emanates an undeniable Fun Factor despite being bizarrely fugly. It's the Pontiac Aztec of FX pedals. Thanks for this great sounding video!

IMO both the microfreak AND the Zoom pedal go above and beyond their price...

Already have a ms-7-cdr for the price it is a no brainer. Great little pedal even with a few limitations. Now, I better go and update it.

I love mine, lots of high quality effects and once you get your head round how to get the best out of it, it's a very versatile stompbox although the tap function and ability to scroll through patches live could definately be improved, but for 75 quid used, who's complaining!

I played piano when i was 5 and 6. Then i quit but taking lessons but always goofed around with one when one was around. I play guitar and bass and can knock out a basic drum beat. I like writing my own songs and have been slowly acquiring the instruments needed to put together a home studio. Ive been trying to decide on the most inexpensive synth i could get that would give me floyd type sounds. The ability to play some funk as well. This setup youve put together sounds awesome to me. Great vid

I really love the microfreak. It is my on the sofa doodling in headphones while my husband watches basketball synth. The microfreak is like Plaits on steroids. the UI is fun and all those piano lessons from elementary school are still useful. For effects I sometimes dump it straight into clouds for some old-school eurorack granular fun. I also have the Strymon starlab in the rack. What is weird is I have many efx pedals for my bass and guitars, but i usually do not run my synths through them. I'm not sure why but between instruments I don't share efx. Hmm.

I do not have a microfreak but every time I hear it it's amazing you can get one new for 350 bucks. The zoom pedal isn't perfect but there's plenty of boutique reverb that aren't much better, cost twice as much and aren't as flexible. Add a distortion pedal and maybe a compressor and volume pedal and it can turn a pedal board into a much smaller setup than some people use.

so i've had the ms 70 for 2 years and i'm very happy with it, especially for synthesizers as an add-on it's hard to beat for the price. 👌
