Just a heads up. There is a layer of carbon on the back of the upper platen. this exists because teflons are being placed out of alignment, and can lead to problems with automatic gap calibration.

Tbh you arent gonna find any videos that accurately show how McDonald’s does things near you, most mcdonalds are privately owned franchises that have their own policies and their own standards for how things are done. Where I’m at, the grill looks completely different, we have a completely different way of cleaning the grill. Also, McDonald’s utilizes a recycled oil system, so you are supposed to dump the grease first so you don’t get grill cleaner or water into them as that’s not oil and shouldn’t be in the dirty oil tanks.

very pro of you to not put the cleaner directly onto the grill.

The carbon buildup that everyone speaks of is due to people, not using enough cleaner and letting it get in there and drip - while it in full clean mode.

When you use high temp cleaner and wipe down mode, it is actually too hot for the cleaner- hence full clean mode- in folk mode, the grill is still hot, but it doesn’t destroy the cleaner before it does his job and get to those nooks and crannies around the top platten.

Using the high-tech cleaner like that is actually what leads to getting the crusty shit in the back - and yes, a misalign Teflon adds to that, but the crusty in the back is misaligned the Teflon by moving it, just a millimeter or two off.

Basically, the buildup is due to not doing it right consistently. It’s also due the fact of the team not using wipe down during the day anytime every so many hours you can wipe down the grill.

Yuck! When I worked at McDonald’s I didn’t leave a speck behind when I cleaned grill, which was every night for 6 years! It was the young punk kids who always left the grill dirty like that. Are you a young punk kid, more interested in getting out the door asap rather than doing a good job?
