[Nancy]
Applied behavior analysis takes the principles and the strategies that come out of behaviorism and apply them to help people change their behavior in ways that are going be helpful to them.

We focus really in our program, on preparing technically proficient behavior analysts who know how to be collaborative, who know how to focus on inclusive environments, for individuals with developmental disabilities, and certainly always have the ethics of what they're doing, first and foremost in their mind.

Our program is what's called synchronous online, which means that the professor and the students meet together for class just like you would in a physical classroom.

[Nicki]
After the first couple of months, because a lot of my peers were the same people going to the same classes, you know, you really did start to build that connection even though you hadn't actually seen them in the flesh.

[Ting]
I want to get in, get in the field, and but I was kind of worried about if it's going be practical for my family. The distance learning program is actually a fantastic opportunity. The platform is actually quite inter, interactive, so I was able to raise my hand to ask questions, and then we were doing small group and big group.

[Nancy]
We have especially loved the idea that we have found that this constant conversations between our school-based students and our clinic-based students about what works in each of these environments has been incredibly valuable to them.

[Nicki]
It was fun to bounce ideas off the other teachers in the group, but it was also really interesting to see the clinical perspective at times as well, and I think that worked very much vice-versa for those people who were just limited to a clinical setting to actually see and hear a teacher’s perspective.

[Nancy]
When students leave our program, they have the coursework that they need to sit for the, the national exam, and so every student in our program that wants a job, finds a job as a behavior analyst.

[Nicki]
It really is a professional qualification, you know. You really, you come out and you get your BCBA and you're a professional, you know, you're, you've got a very high quality qualification, which really opens doors as well. I mean it's certainly opened a big door for me faster than I thought.

[Ting]
What you learn you can apply right away and you got supervisors from the same like, academic background, so they are talking about same things, same philosophy. So it's, so I feel like I'm more, much more well prepared because everything ties together and I learn intensively with focus.

[Nancy]
I hope more than anything that students leave this program with the absolute focus that we don't use behavior analysis to just make individuals with developmental disabilities look more like other people. We use applied behavior analysis to improve quality of life for those individuals with developmental disabilities.

Wow! I'm currently a behavior technician but moving up in the field and also moving up in the map since I'm relocating from the Southwest to the Pacific Northwest which is my dream come true.
