The pilots do in fact have oxygen tanks that are pressurized. So to say an aircraft doesn't have tanks is untrue. Passengers do indeed have oxygen, produced chemically, and is not under any pressure. This is why you should not be concerned if the bag does not inflate. The reasons oxygen is needed is incase the cabin where to have a decompression. People assume it's because oxygen is not in the air at high altitudes. this is also untrue. Not an issue of lack of oxygen but an issue of lack of pressure forcing the oxygen onto the hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is just a protein in your blood that is responsible for transporting oxygen molecules to the rest of your body. if oxygen does not get to your body you will be come hypoxic. Hypoxia has many symptoms, for the most part the systems aren't an issue as a passenger but are not good if you are the pilot. For example dizziness, tired, and difficulty concentrating to name a few. if under hypoxic condition long enough it will lead to passing out. forThis is why the say "secure your mask before assisting others". If you are assisting another person without a mask you could be overcome with hypoxia and unable to secure the passengers mask or your mask.


The triangle above the window do give good views of the wing but most importantly the leading edge and trailing edge of the wing. The leading edge is where ice accumulation starts and lives. In general Ice + Aircraft = bad day. Airlines have anti-ice and de-icing systems in place to take care of this issue at altitude but in rare cases they can malfunction or in some cases it cant keep up with the ice that is accumulating. if this is the case then we know, as pilots, what window to look out of in order to give us the best view we needed to confirm or deny the malefaction.



The whole shade up comment is simply not true. Shade up or down will allow the air pressure to equalize either way.
