Cramorant having a ROM Hack with Pokemon Yellow as it's base game is canon because it's signature ability, Gulp Missile, has it eating a Pikachu when it's below 50% health, and inflicts paralysis on it's opponent, which is weird and quirky.

As funny as it sounds, I think Brown hasn't aged well with all the competition it has! Thanks for this, though! It's great to see people talking about Pokemon ROM hacks

Good video but I think most people who click on this are gonna look for ROMs to play and this kinda assumes you know something about these.

I couldn't put Crystal Clear in S due to the sole fact that the creator replaced the E4 with their own OCs and made themselves the champion. It was so cringe I didn't finish. They would have been better off as post-game super bosses. There were other issues I had but they are more minor.

Hi Cicada! I’ve been following your channels for some months now I rewatched this video like 6 times or so. I was wandering if you could make a second part of this video or just a ‘remake’ of it adding all the 1st and 2nd gen rom hacks you’ve played so far. Good job, keep it up!

im currently playing the dx version and crystal clear.. i really like the freedom of the Crystal Clear, the DX one is really hard, i installed the challenge mode gen 1, never played a game as hard as that one and i played a lot and i mean a lot of pokemon games and hackroms.

By the way! i was able to battle myself with 2 different characters on Pokemon Crystal Clear with TGB Dual, its a GBC game and i just created a Gary character with a charmander, the second one is a Blue Girl with Asuka as a name, she has an squirtle and did everything i could to connect myself so i could trade or battle, you know, the 2 characters are different and they started on different cities so i challenged myself having 1 charmander on one side and a squirtle on the other side and charmander won because it started with Outrage as a move, i believe the 2 last moves are random moves once you start, my squirtle had mirror coat and confusion wich was not enough to defeat a charmander with outrage! by the way i believe i will not delete that move because is perfect to defeat dragons.

I'd check out Polished Crystal. It has a bunch of QOL and modern features, as well as later gen Pokémon.

The best one for me didnt make this list due to it running on advance. Crystal Advance looks and feels a lot like FireRed or LeafGreen while hosting the Crystal world of both Johto and Kanto.

The phone system is removed but the trainers that would call you once they found an elemental stone now simply give it after being defeated, similarly there is a merchant for a Link Cable item to evolve trade evolved pokemon.

For me the best enhancement is reworking the entire Crystal moveset system to where thing now make perfect sense if they calculated of psysical strength or special attack stats, think of Aqua Tail for psysical water move versus surf as special based water move, or ghost moves like Shadowball now being coded as special attack move.

I also quite like how the 3 original gen 1 starters now have a low encounter rate in Ilex Forest for Bulbasaur, Whirl Islands for Squirtle and lastly Burned Tower for Charmander which are all quite fitting imo.

Believe it or not, Pink Version isn't a hoax. For a very brief time, Gamefreak considered releasing Pink along with Yellow Version, but ultimately decided against it. There's code in Yellow that supports this, and DYKG covered the topic not long ago too. ^^

Spaceworld 97 is a thing of beauty, honestly feels like a better gen 2

I have I have Pokemon Brown is S tier. It is really good at what it does. The 2 main things that Brown does are:

1) Gives us an new Gen 1 game with an original story. The Gen 1 mechanics can be really fun to play around with. There are a lot of pokemon that are almost never used in playthroughs in later games that were quite powerful and fun in gen 1. However, there are only 2 completed gen 1 rom hacks with their own story and map that I am aware of.

2) Pokemon brown allows us to use later generation pokemon under gen 1 mechanics. Example: Blissey. Imagine a Blissey with a 135 SpA. That is the type of thing that you get in this game.

You can't put Pokemon TRE in the C tier. The rest of the games in that tier are jokes (both literally and figuratively). TRE is one of only two gen 1 rom hacks with its own region and story. Plus you get to play as team rocket (kind of). You have to at least put in "B" tier. It is complete, has its own unique region and story, and it did it all in gen 1. I had a Cloyster in my final team. In what other generations is cloyster a great end game pokemon?

A whole video on this would be great! As someone with anorexia people don’t realise the dark side of being underweight.
