Hi Dr. Dray! I'm a Chemistry major college student starting med school in 2022. I need to tell you how much I enjoy your videos and how much I appreciate your commitment to "good science". You always let us know when studies are limited, you search for contradictory research papers to eliminate confirmation bias, and you cite your sources in every description box. These are fundamentals of basic science that you have always been such a good example of. The videos are so entertaining and fun, but I really wanted to tell you that I recognize how committed you are to making the education pieces as unbiased, truthful, and research supported as possible! I love derm and that's because of you!

I use self tanner to cover veins. To say I'm white is an understatement.. I've been teased my entire life about my translucent skin - the tanner has pretty much stopped all the BS. Glad to know I'm not killing myself with the self tanner.

Bravo for “not imposing your belief” when treating a patient. We need more like you in the medical field:)

Using self tanners helped me break my decade long tanning bed addiction. Then eventually I stopped using the self tanners as well. Now I'm just fine with my natural skin tone. I purchased some self tanner last March just to get "a little color", applied it once then realized it waskt with the effort 😆

You've enlightened me on many levels Dr Dray. Thank you. I watch a few other derm channels but hands down, you are my #1. You've instilled trust and confidence at a time when we are bombarded with misleading and outright false information. My late husband was a scientist/patent attorney who used to say "the devils is in the details". When I hear you say this, it puts a smile on my face. He'd wholeheartedly agree! xo

Just love all the studies you cite in your videos. There is so much misinformation that gets voiced and nothing to back up the claims

Thank you for this - I saw a different video recently that left me a bit confused, but as someone who is not a dermatologist, I didn’t quite feel in a place to question some elements of it. So, thank you for giving us your professional opinion. I’m not an avid self-tanner - just a bit of gradual tan every so often for some added glow (not anything dramatic) - but I know so many people who used to use sun beds who now use these products instead. I’m glad they seem to be safe to all intents and purposes!

The way Dr.Drey tells us where DHA originated from is just legendary Dr Drey style& why we are here. These videos are more like classes by experts better than most classes in unis. Thanks Dr Drey

I used to go to tanning beds all the time. You are the reason I wear sunscreen daily and have switched entirely to self-tanner. The Public Health service you do with this channel has to be huge. Thanks for helping me understand how to care for my self better Dr Dray 😊

Very intelligent. Genuinely impressed with how you delivered this succinct, comprehensive and logical position.
As a suggestion, your skillset would be valuable as a material witness in relevant cases.

I'm a fitness competitor and sunless tanners ARE a requirement - this is definitely correct. 🙂 They were also one of the few things that helped me feel confident when I had cystic acne (pre-Spironolactone) and a very tight budget. Thank you for making this, Dr. Dray!!!

As a bodybuilder who competes, the purpose of the tan is show showcase muscles under the bright stage lights.😎 I always enjoy your videos and knowledge. Thank you.

I said this on another channel that talked about self tanning, and I’ll say it again here.. I had an epiphany a couple weeks ago. I’ve been using self tanners off and on, and realized that I was spending money on something to change the colour of my skin tone, but really for what reason? I’ve never had an insecurity of my skin tone when I was born, but it’s what society has painted certain parts of the world to overtime. “You’re so pale, or you’re so white!” As if that was a bad thing lol.

No matter where we are in the world or whatever your skin tone is, there is always a beauty standard we’re not following. Using self tanners is better than baking in the sun or worse going to a tanning bed, but we only get our skin this one time. Maybe we should just start respecting it more by protecting and refining it rather than changing it :)

Have a great day whoever is reading❤️
