Our son got his first coal with a kiln dried cedar board and poplar dowel from Home Depot. Yes, it's a stepping stone to doing it with material off the landscape. Good technique there, buddy!

Nice beginner kit, that may take a lot of the "that is too much work to make a set" out of making a bowdrill fire.. Is that a soapstone bearing? That is an pretty knee you have there, Bill. Thank you for the video
