I have just uploaded an updated method for this workflow (it's much easier as we skip renderdoc and it's still free):

Insane, you’re the first tutorial and only one that I can find that made it work. Process tree is what fixed it for me !

Thanks, I am using this workflow for almost 3 years now, but I wasn't aware of the plugins, just purchased them to speed up things.

For others who don’t have the option to export the .FBX to .RCS, I found that you can settle for .PTS. Then start a new point cloud project in Recap (Not Photo) and proceed to export to RCS!

I wish I found your videos earlier but never too late I am on my 3rd year of urban planning and have studio projects lining up and found those helpful

I am having a headache how to cut the map in Blender. After watching the video, it will be very helpful for my work. Thank you.

Appreciate the video Dev!
Noticed that programs are very fussy regarding which versions you're using.
RenderDoc version 1.13 / MapsModelsImporter version 0.4.0 (downloaded separately) / Blender 2.93 LTS worked for me.

Few people have problems between different versions of Blender, Renderdoc and Maps plugin importer not working.
I recommend trying earlier versions to see if they work.

Versions I used when recording:

Renderdoc 1.16 64bit
Maps model importer 0.4.0
Blender: 3.0.0

Hope it helps!

Amazing video, super in depth. I gave up 15 mins in because its just for an interior design assignment. 😅

Great workflow! If the final output is just for visualization you could have stayed in Blender. Bring the sketchup/revit model into the .blend file and add some HDRIs, fix up some of the janky textures/buildings there.
