Tesla Maintenance:

To start off I purchased my tesla model 3 mid-range back in December of 2018. The purchase process was flawless and with a few simple clicks I purchased my first electric car online with a small deposit on my credit card. 3 months later I was notified that my model 3 was ready to be picked up at my local tesla facility. With all the customizations I have added to my tesla including the white interior package, the silver metallic exterior paint color and the 19” sport wheels the total came to a whopping $49,000. This does not even include the destination and documentation fee which added another $1,200 dollars and we also have to add local sales tax along with registration and titling fees adding another $1,739 dollars. Giving me a final grand total of $51,939 for my brand-new tesla model 3 midrange. Now keep in mind the added sales tax and registration fees will vary based on your state of purchase. This was my total based on my state of residence in her in North Carolina. By far this is the most expensive car I have ever purchased but let me tell you how I did not end up paying the full price of $51,939. Back in December of 2018 the $7,500 tax credit was about to be cut in half to $3,750. This being the reason I wanted to purchase the car before the expiration of this tax credit. So, when I took deliver during this time frame I fully qualified for this large tax credit bringing my total tesla model 3 purchase price down to $44,439. While this is still a large sum of money for any vehicle in my opinion, there are a few more incentives as to why the tesla model 3 is still cheaper to own over the long term.

The math does not seem to work out great, unless of course you're going from a gas hog like an Audi that's also a relatively unreliable and expensive vehicle to maintain. But not all cars are that way.
I certainly agree that if you ARE comparing the Tesla Model 3 to a BMW 3 series or Audi or Mercedes you're probably going to be way ahead of the curve when it comes to maintenance and repairs.
But if you wanted to compare a Tesla to like a Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius, Honda Accord basically any car that's just your average transportation.
The numbers don't work out so great.
No one uses a timing belt anymore, spark plugs generally have 100, 000 mi interval. They take about 10 minutes to change and cost About $30.
Oil changes are not that expensive either. If you're driving less than 15, 000 a year, You're only talking about doing 2-3 oil changes per year at about $45 each.
When I compare what you gave as the cost to charge for those amount of miles, my Toyota Prius it only cost me $275 more than what you paid for your charging.
Considering if I bought a brand new Prius I could buy two of them for the price you paid for your car. Like I said if you're looking for just basic reliable functional transportation, I still think you're better off buying a far less expensive car at least for now.
If you're comparing to a BMW or Merc then I think the numbers work out far better in favor of the Tesla, and certainly the Tesla compares to those vehicles more appropriately than a Toyota Prius or Toyota Camry.
The thing it's important is to decide what you need for a vehicle, what you like is important also. And factor the purchase price, along with operational costs. Find out what your return on investment is.
If it's going to take you 15 years to break even buying the Tesla versus something else. That's probably not a great financial choice unless of course you just LIKE the car better anyway which is a perfectly valid reason to purchase any vehicle.
You just don't want to walk into it thinking you're saving a whole bunch of money and using that as your primary reasoning, just make sure that you're not deluding yourself about the actual finances.
when I run the numbers on my Prius which by the way is 12 years old and has 325, 000 mi on it. my total cost of operation is $0.07 per mile. That's fuel all fluid changes and tires. I drive 60, 000 mi per year, and that's why I drive the Prius.

Great video You did a fantastic job putting all the numbers together.

This is literally the first other Silver on White Model 3 I’ve seen in my year of ownership and it wasn’t even in person haha the combination gets a ton of compliments and the white is super worth it. Contrasts amazing with the silver

As a young man insurance for the Tesla model 3 is too expensive. I am 20 accident free with GEICO as my insurance provider and my premium for 6 months would go up by nearly 600$. Guess I’ll have to wait until I’m 25 lol.

It is suggested that every 12, 000 miles a lubricate service for the brake calibers be done on the Telsa 3 this could range in price from $175-$250 each time.

Question to Tesla owners! How much do y’all pay monthly for insurance? I’m receiving quotes for $350 or so.
