I don't think you'll be able to sell it for $16k. Try $14k - settle for 13.

I know your personal joy from driving a new car is more important than YT content, but I was hoping for a LONG term model 3 review (200, 000miles or 10 years) :(

This is a no brainer! With all the credits you have, tax credit, and trading in your old car, it’s time! Get that new model 3!

I bought a new 2024 Model 3 Performance in August and transferred my original 2018 FSD (for the second time) to it. I absolutely love the 2024, and you will not be disappointed, although some changes take getting used to. Let me add that FSD 13.2.2 on AI 4 has amazed me so far. It's the most human version so far.

Go for it, Andy! Let someone else be the proud owner of your beloved Red Rider.

Don’t wait for the final $1000 or to sell your car. Just get the new car and count the cost later. You can clearly afford to do it And since you do drive a lot it’s NOT A bad decision !

I'd say shoot for the AWD one, so you get all the Premium features you currently have, but with like 20 miles less of range. Then it'd only be a little money out of pocket for a car you plan on keeping for a long time

I just took delivery of my first Tesla (also first EV) on Saturday (12/21). I picked up the 2025 LR RWD Model 3 as well. I did upgrade the paint (blue) and interior (white). Otherwise, base model. I got a $1, 000 referral discount, $7, 500 tax credit, 3 mos of free super charging (which I’ll be using for my holiday traveling), and 4 mos of free FSD trial. Put about half down, and financed the remainder for 4 years at .99%. I’ve driven so many Teslas, and dreamed of one day owning one. The combination of life events and all of the incentives Tesla offered lined up beautifully for me to be able to make this purchase. It is an amazing car!!
Thank you for your content! I will look forward to seeing what you do with your new car! I live in the Indianapolis area. Would be fun to bump into you one day as you say you travel here regularly.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

I literally just bought a 2018 rwd long range model 3 with 105, 000 miles last week. I got it from a used car dealer that sells lots of used teslas. I paid $21, 000 plus tax minus $4, 000 for the up front used ev tax credit. Tax here in ca is 10% so out the door price was about $19, 000. I also am applying for a $4, 000 rebate from my electric company, so that’s in process.

Looks like the best recommendation - to sell your current Model 3 2018 to some YouTuber who will keep testing it and posting videos about that car.

daughter did the same on her y performance --she went from a 21 long range to a 24 performance and it was way less money and a better car also

I think you should do it because I know its your beloved Tesla, but basically for free... you should 100% do it. You get a brand new Tesla with all the warranty and things and also its hardware is better.

Andy, I think you pretty much have answered your own question.

Great decision! I understand why you wanted to run your model 3 to the ground, but there are so many pros to getting the newest Model 3. You can make so much more content with the newest Model 3 and future updates will be available for that first. It’s a win-win for your channel’s growth AND your daily life since you’re in a position to do so.

Go for it! Get the awd and you get the upgrade sound system that is WONDERFUL! We purchased a MY December 2022 and traded it in November for awd Highland for my wife. She really liked the MY and absolutely loves her Highland. Big difference in range and loves the ventilated seats and ambient lighting. We received the tax credit, purchased one on the lot $3;800 discount and another discount it was too easy to justify.

I just got a demo AWD 850 $ off plus the 2k ref model 3 with blue/white trim.
the sound system when I did the test drive and sound check on both, just as an audio phile blew me away
at how good and clean the sub bass and chest response is in that car for that price.

After going back and forth in my brain between my RWD original order I changed it.
and it was well worth it and an audio system like that is expensive.

the interest rate at 1.99 too was a no brainer, so Congrats on your new AWD.

Do it! 😊. Just a heads up. If you order your new one using your current car’s Tesla account, it will automatically apply the loyalty discount and will not use someone else’s referral even if you put that in. On your end it is all the same, but not to the person whose referral you used.

Like most others have said it seems like a no brainer. The $7500 federal credit is probably going away after this year so if you wait you lose that also.

Driving the Highland for a few months, they improved on everything. The only issue is the turn signal buttons sometimes are not reactive/working well. They actually disable if you hover over them too long. Takes a few seconds to come back on

Unless they changed it you can not use a referral from someone else. I tried this with someone coming back to Tesla - had one then got Rivian then buying X- and they gave him loyalty credit even though he used my link. Not a huge deal but you mentioned it. You still get something as lotalty just might not be as good as friend refer.
