15.3 is quite good, but the 14.7 of the new car is really very fast for 200 bhp, the effects of the weight and the turbo torque I imagine, may be the sequential twin-clutch gearbox helping with a tenth or two?

I'm not rushing to the defense on the new model, after owning a lot of turbos (Golf 5 GTI, BMW 135i, Forcus ST) I actually want a nautrally aspirated engine next - turbos run out of steam around 5k RPM's and have a fairly narrow power band (unless an M car!)... but the new Clio is a progression. Few want to have to red line a car to get decent torque and as a daily driver the new model makes far more sense. Also quieter, less polluting, more fuel efficient.

To have a fair drag race, the Clio 4 shouldn't use launch control. Kind of an obvious result anyway, that a turbocharged engine wins this. Put them on a track and you'll see which one is the best hot hatch ;)

probably not so these days, the only time a factory cup was more focused was with the 172 e.g less sound proofing, no abs, brake bias etc...

I doubt that car offers the same distinction between a factory cup and a cup packed car

What customers are those Renault? The ones which are going to buy the new Fiesta ST? Keep it manual, keep it fun

it's better looking than the clio 3 rs. and I say it as a clio 3 rs fan. it's quicker, mutch quicker in the staight line. don't forget that a new astra opc does the 1/4 mile somewhere between 14.3 and 14.6 sec, so wow... not bad for a little clio :) let's see how it will perform on tracks. I'm sure it will be good. but I still need to wait for the Gordini version to place my order at the closest RenaultSport dealer :) can't wait...

The new turbo engine has got loads of torque compared to the old NA engine and the new clio is also lighter xD

huh? you can 'chip and tune' a naturally aspirated more than a turbo? are you completely ignorant? Push that boost just 0.1 bar upwards for big gains, simple remap can yield 25% - 30% more torque. Not so with an NA motor.

if you listen you will hear that the RS3 hit the red line, so it is a bullshit to say that it has not been driven properly. No way to beat the new clio rs with the old one. If you say the RS3 can beat the RS4 clio, just try to prove it. I like the RS3 pretty much, but I've never seen any of them to get under 15 sec on a 1/4 mile drag race. And you can expect similar diferences on tracks. Let's wait for the first track-tests... ;)

J'ai une 3RS depuis 4 longues et excellentes années. Au top sauf moteur pointu et creux sous 5000trs
J'ai testé la 4RS lors d'un long essai presse. Perfs canons mais sensations édulcorées, aseptisées

Je peux donc comparer.
Et toi ?
A part ce que tu as lu dans la presse ou entendu à auto moto qu'en sais tu ?

The 3rs is far better looking but really really slow, unacceptably so.

I got rid of mine as it felt gutless, felt like I was driving a 1.6L. Yes they handle well but you do also need a reasonable amount of straight line speed.

I lost every race in my 3rs, even to diesels.

The clio 3 rs is a pure hot hatch, great fun to drive.
The clio 4 rs is just a averge and not so great to drive.

200cup. lighter 1175kg, 27% stiffer. shorter 1, 2, 3 gears. shorter steering rack. [ for sharper handling ]. lighter wheels[ speedlines ]. main signs for visual are. black plastic trim on side of car. CUP on the door. 200 w/cup chassis is a gimmick its just a set of springs. and it will weigh about 1220kg. still be great fun. but you can tell the diffrence if both drivers know what there doing. better of either going for FF or Cup version. it, s like asking for a fat bird with pert tits. lol
