What makes this game special, and makes this track shine, I think, it's because Rimworld give you feeling that it's real people fight and die, not just units. Actual people to whom you get emotional investment, with their lives and dreams and loved ones.

And also plenty of free organ's, but that's another story :/

My settlement had around 7 people, second game year and was completely shattered by mechanoid raid, after that my doctor lost his arm and most of colony have been in medical beds. Most. The brave bloodlust cannibal named Lasagna beaten 6 raiders in support of only one mini turret and prevented base from lying in pillaged ruins.

The name of this song is so powerful. It reminds you that the people fighting are just that: people. They freeze up, and they panic. And now, they're fighting for their lives, and they might lose.

I own a Uranium Slug Turret for home defense, since that's what the AI Storytellers intended. A pack of raiders enter my territory (Dialogue Bubble depicting exclamation point) as I grab my Marine Armor and Plasteel Broadsword. Blow a Boomrat-Sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my Revolver (32%, Good) on the second raider, miss him entirely because I only have Shooting 3 and nail Hayes' Tortoise. I have to resort to the Rocketswarm Turret mounted to the entrance of my house and loaded with Chemfuel (Dialogue Bubble depicting Salute) The Rockets shred two men in the blast, the fire and extra shrapnel hit our only doctor in the knee, leaving him crippled and burnt. Pull out Broadsword and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting to be imprisoned since slashes across the liver and heart are impossible to treat (Without medicine). Ah, just as the Storytellers intended.

The theme of these rimworld tracks starts out as being almost tribal with the drums but as the song progresses it feels as if both the tribal nature combines with the more modern instruments.

3:35 Played over one of the best moments in my current colony. panned over my defenses during a Mechanoid raid, they're Inferno Cannon setting every square in range alight, all of my colonests where trying to either put themselves out or rescue or evacuate the wounded. All save Devil who had a light machine gun and 1000 rounds of AP parked in a fireing pit just outside of main gate. And there he stayed spitting Hate till i was able to organize a counter attack to win the day.

To this day, no other game captures the feeling of dread or remorse for losing people like Rimworld does. Not only does it make you feel bad if they were a good colonist, but every death, even in larger colonies, has the potential to cause lots of further damage through mental breaks or lost positions, forcing other people to fill in for their jobs and taking you a step further backwards.

The theme where half the colony dies to malnutrition because the crops have a blight and then the prisoner without clothes breaks out of prison and dies of hypothermia after downing a colonist.
