Installing qBittorrent with a VPN on TrueNAS Scale

Installing qBittorrent on TrueNAS Scale had some issues that required resolving, like the adminadmin password not working on first use, and every torrent being added with stalled status and no way to get anything to download.
Hopefully if you were having similar issues, this will have resolved them for you as they did for me.

Commands:
cd /mnt/YOUR-POOL-NAME/ix-applications/releases/qbittorrent/volumes/ix_volumes/config/qBittorrent

chmod -R 774 "%D"

No need to change the password manually in the config file. You can skip all that by going into the logs for qBitorrent and if you haven't set a password, you will see they provide a temp one in the logs. Not obvious to find but in my opinion more straight forward than changing log files

A little simpler approach to the qbittorrent password problem: check logs (workloads pane and then the stickynote looking thing) a random password will be there, use that to log in the first time.

I may be wrong, but to my understanding SOCKS doesn't actually encrypt your data, it just acts as a proxy: changing your perceived location. it won't stop your ISP from seeing what you're doing

for the password, make sure the app is running and you clicked on it and go to the workloads tab to the right [under the delete button] and where it says containers it should say under qbittorrent - Running go to the right of it and click the sticky note icon and there's the random password

After installing qbit and going to the shell, I'm told that doesn't exist. Where is my ix-applications? I used the above folder for qbit's storage config.

Great video explaining this. Can you do one on connecting Radarr to qBittorrent? I keep having issues with the files not moving to the directory created.

If I select my plex media directory, like you have, the app just rapidly goes between deploying and stopped. If I do NOT change the file path and use default, it starts up. Suggestion?

On my version (installed QT yesterday), the search plugins don't work. Do you have the same issue?

tyvm i was looking to fix this thing i did mine slightly different as i have filebrowser installed but same steps Dont know why they dont inclue this on the page or default in the installer to start with. The true charts did this automatically without all the work arounds. But recently it stoped downloading stuff all together was trying to check if it would work if fresh install with truenas version

Почему ты не показал как ты создал папку для загрузок. Как настроить сам клиент я понял, а вот как джать разрешения на запись к дирректории и от какогоь порльзователя запускать сам клиент я не понял. Очень все запутанно и сложно. Почему так трудно сделать все намного проще как в Core версии, или к примеру в OpenMediaVault. Там на прямую в Docker контейнере указывается путь
