Field Find Minis | Would You Save Them? Barn Find Cars For Sale

Join us for another fun filled video in which we attempt to recover two Classic Austin Minis that have been sat in a garden for many years. Followers of UK Barn Finds will know that we are keen (rightly or wrongly) to save as many old classic cars as we can from the scrap yard. We'd rather see barn find cars for sale than scrapped.

These two minis have really seen better days but, true to form, we attempt to recover them, have a bit of a tinker to see if one will start and, with the help of our forklift and recovery truck, get them sent off to @AngliaCarAuctions

00:00 Intro
00:24 The Recovery
03:16 1985 Mini Ritz
14:45 1961 Austin Mini
27:23 Fun With A Forklift
33:00 Unloading the 1961 Austin Mini at Anglia Car Auctions

The Classic Austin Minis featured in the video are a 1985 Austin Mini Ritz which has been off the road about 15 years and a 1961 Austin Mini which has been off the road for well over 20 years! They are both project cars and not much of the 1961 Mini is original, but somebody may be able to restore them...could it be you?

Both Classic Austin Minis will be offered for sale at the November 2nd & 3rd 2024 Classic Car Auction at Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Hope you enjoy the video as much as we did making it.

All the best Claire & Elton

Yes, 2 more cars saved from the scrap yard! I was delighted to hear the Ritz engine running for the short time. Hopefully somebody will buy one or both and see what can be done with them. Once again, a great team effort by the two of you. Thanks for sharing with us. Cheers

My first Mini was just as rusty, and my grandad took it into his garage, stripped it down completely, and rebuilt it. My daughter now runs around in it now. It was a Morris Mini 1000 registered in 1974.

Any Mini is worth saving cos they aren't ever going to make such an iconic car again! Pink Floyd and Led Zep were icing on the cake :) Best video right here.

Good luck with these two cars, it’s good you have saved two iconic cars. I owned a 1981 mini hl with my wife. Good luck down in Sussex..

Having sat in a factory fresh Mini Ritz in the showroom back in the day - it don't half make me feel old seeing one in this state!...Sadly Austin Rovers Metallic finishes proved to be quite porous and these mid eighties Mini Special Editions - Ritz, Chelsea and Piccadilly deteriorated rapidly and survivors are rare. Even though its categorised the Ritz is very much worth saving - that its survived at all is a miracle. 👍

Two more rescued. You've done all you can to save them and you can tell they both have a story. They must be useful to someone, particularly the 1275 engine. 😊👍

Nice one, can`t beat a simple "A" series motor for reliability.

I had a lot of Minis during the last almost 40 years, among them Pick-up and 1275GT, but I sold last one last May. I was also participating at Mini 30 years at Silverstone back in 1989. 5061 Minis in a massive traffic jam at race track! So many memories!

The black mini shell appears to be an early 70s Mk3 model with the original 70s seats! I guess you could re-shell as a Mk1 with the identity, but not sure whether the donor car’s identity could be recovered (likely not sadly - but might be ideal for a race car project)

20/25 years ago no1 would have saved them but now Minis are worth saving particularly as everything bodywork wise from panels to complete shells are still made. I never liked minis until i bought an 06 R50 cooper & then a 10 plate R56 cooper S. Would love any from the 60s with the sliding window.

In the mid-1980s, the presence of a shiny, silver Mini 'Ritz' reminded the neighbours how posh you were.

I'm afraid Claire I also have a very large collection of rare and original cassettes, some quite valuable according to "Discogs". I never play them of course, they're just antiquities really or collectable for fans of the music but I just find them so attractive and tactile. That's probably why I love classic and older cars so much too, good luck at ACA, I'll be glued as usual.

Great video. I hope that the older mini isnt brought at auction just for its number plate but personally I'm not hopeful. I've got this horrible feeling it'll end up on some awful electric suv. Also I've never heard the use of the word "tyne" used in connection with fork lifts before. I've always thought they were called forks, therefore leading to the machines name, forklift. I'm not saying I'm right though, every day is a school day!!!
