The BMW i8 is a plug-in, mid-engined hybrid sports car and was unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show. Is this how the future of cars looks? Watch and let us know below.

The 4.7-metre-long BMW i8 features unusual construction methods, using a carbonfibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) bodyshell sitting on a welded aluminium chassis. BMW claims the i8 can hit 62mph from rest in just 4.4sec with both the engine and electric motor engaged. Top speed — achieved by the petrol engine alone — is 155mph. BMW says this performance is partly thanks to the i8's relatively low weight of 1490kg and an aerodynamic bodyshell, which has a drag coefficient of 0.26.

This is probably what the future will look like, very low consuming cars combined with electric motors. Very impressive performance still, and with well over 100 mpg its very good!

Lithium batteries are completely non toxic and contain no heavy, radioactive, or rare earth minerals. They are reusable for energy storage (they are still at 80% capacity after 8-10 years), and when they are completely spent, over 90% of it is recyclable. It's easy to recycle car batteries. Just trade it in for a fresh one to offset the cost of a new one. They'll recycle it for you.

This thing will probably turn more heads a dark night then a Bugatti Veyron.

My car has 1l, and it is 4 cylinder . Motobikes as low as 500cc have 4 cylindres . It could be 4 or 6 cylinder and it would run smoother, it can rew higher, make better sound and throttle responce is better . 1.5l V6 turbo like new F1, and make it economical .

Fuel consumption, it wouldn't get 100mpg with an N/A V8.

im guessing everyone talking about speed always drives on racetracks. Otherwise your just an armchair racecar enthusiast. this car is a supercar because of its styling and specs. Over 100 miles to the gallon? And still looks better than 99% of anything on the road? RIDICULOUS. but yall are stupid forreal. "0-60mph in 4.4 seconds? too slow, i need to accelerate to 60mph in 3 seconds at the red light."
