Ford's 4WD auto system actually send power to both front and rear axles at all times, unless the front wheels are turned past a certain degree it will cut that power to the front wheels, unless slippage is detected it will engage the front again. On freeways the front axle's power will be cut over a certain speed (around 60 mph) to save on fuel economy, unless an agressive amount of power is put down for more acceleration.

The "maximum" speed has nothing to do with the vehicle's capabilities it has everything to do with the tire speed rating or governor.

In 1970 as a rookie I had to drive an AMC Matador, It looked really bad but it would go like hell. When I retired I had a 2000 Ford Explore 4wd, top speed 114 and it was great for 8 years until It and I retired.

Actually the a Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department is the one who does the fleet testing not LAPD... lol. Other than that awesome video.

Interesting that they didn’t show a “cage” in the back to safely hold prisoners. Additionally I would have expected the hybrid as an option, lots of big cities would be interested.

As someone who drives on of these 5-6 days a week, they are amazingly fast for a pickup.
