Appraisal Institute of Canada should disclose their shadey past. I spent time and money and past all their residential and commercial courses, which taught next to nothing about appraisal. They mislead us big time in their literature about how much pay to expect. I ended up articling for free. The literature said it was the responsibility of the chapter to help find articling openings, but the chapter president just laughed when I asked him if he knew of any. Yes, AIC is a big, terrible joke ! They would not put the paper work through to allow me to attend the meetings. They were able to put the paper work through to bill me for dues and insurance ! Worst, they suddenly put through a deadline, which prevented me from completing my articling. Now, I´m not even eligible to take their courses over - but I never would !

Appraisal Institute is an unethical disgrace which feels no obligation to follow Canadian minimum wages rules.
It´s an old boys´ club.  If you don´t have a connection or real estate experience that could count as articling
time, they might kick you out after you complete their third rate courses.
