How to transition the parent issue when all subtasks are resolved using Automation for Jira?

When all of your sub-tasks are marked as 'done'', naturally it should mean your parent should be marked as 'done' also. Out of the box, this doesn't happen in Jira.

However, with Automation for Jira - this is as easy as putting a few building blocks together. Watch this video to learn how to get started.

Or Try Automation for Jira free from the Atlassian Marketplace:

is it possible for other issue type except subtask like you can consider child issues are of task issue type and parent is Improvement or Story type
plz let me know if any workaround available for this.

Hi everyone, I did this with a workflow that has a POST function on done to set the resolution and it doesn't work unfortunately, but it works when I try with a different workflow. Any ideas why?

What if i want to move the parent to whatever the subtasks status were moved?? i mean you move the parent to done when all the subtasks are done. but i want that for all the possible stages that the subtasks will be moved.

This is fantastic for all new tasks that are transitioned. What should i do for the old tasks whose subtasks are closed long back but the main task is still open? how do i run a automation rule or modify this one? Thanks in Advance for this and for your video.

can you also let me know, what if I am trying to close the Existing Jira task where all the subtask are incomplete status, I am looking for some automation so that I don't need to close the task explicitely.
