I had a concussion, but it was a time when I needed to maintain a high grade so I wouldn't lose scholarship, I was a time that I forced myself to study hard and took a lot of Tylenol and coffee through the severe headaches. After seeing this video, it appears I did the right thing.

Would love to see a patients perspective on post concussion syndrome, completely different than a standard perspective as in this video.

I had a concussion a few years ago. What my dad told me, is that I fainted and hit floor, and that I out for two minutes. Good thing it was on the rug and not the tile, even then, I still lucked out. I when came too, I could barely move and very disoriented. The headache lasted for a couple weeks, and I was using the pain meds from wrist surgery to help manage the pain.

Today, I'm dealing with the affects from the incident. I still need to see neurologist to get tested for Post Concussion Syndrome, though.

Note: I did go to ER the next morning. Apparently, my Dad was more concerned with my calcium levels, than getting looked at for my concussion. For some reason, he didn't quite understand what I was going through after I told him. So, I didn't get looked at.

My daughter and I have both had serious concussions. It's taken Abby 3.5 years to (mostly) recover and for me it's been 15 months. I guess strictly speaking we both now have post-concussion syndrome, but it kind of all blurs together when you're going through it!!

I got a small concussion a few days ago. I hit my head on a piano at theater camp. At first I just asked the director for some ice and I put it on my head for abt 5 minutes. Then the choreographer so I told her what happened, laughed abt being clumsy, and started dancing. My right eye (the side of my head I got hit on) began blurry. I sat down on the couch they had there near the stage and me and my friend were looking on google to try to see what was wrong which obviously gave awful answers. Then I was “feeling better” so I went onstage to do the dance and I felt like I was going to pass out. I got back into the kitchen area where other ppl are rehearsing to wash my eye out and a counselor there tells me to sit down. I go out to where I was and sit down. A few minutes later the ppl rehearsing in the kitchen come out to show what they worked on. Before they start what they were working on, I started laughing for no reason. I couldn’t express my self but really I wanted to cry in pain but it was hard to think/talk. They start the song they were working on and I just began to cry so hard. I usually am not a crier at ALL so everyone was really concerned. Everyone not on stage was trying to comfort me while ppl on stage were trying to listen to the directors commands while seeing what was going on (my best friend was one of them and she was rlly scared for me). The ppl around me were panicking abt pulling back my hair, giving me food, staying near me, getting away from me, giving me pillows, etc. The counselor there was asking me if I wanted to call my mom (even though I could barely speak or think). I told her my mom was in a meeting and her job is pretty important so her phone will be off. She tried anyway and my mom didn’t pick up. Then she asked me my stepdads number and I didn’t know it so yea. Once I stopped crying nonstop I started talking like a toddler and not being able to think, form words, or control my emotions. For example, my friend asked me my favorite song from the musical we were doing and i said the one about the money bc I couldn’t think of the title. She said cool and starting singing Money from Mama Mia and I literally had a breakdown and said it wasn’t that one. Then I forgot my friend Katie’s name and called her Kitty. So yea, that sucked. Then other ppl started crying bc they thought I was dying so yea (btw I was still having crying/laughing fits) Anyway at the end of the day I have to do aftercare bc I don’t have someone to drive me home till 5:15 (camp ends at 4). So my friend offered to take me to her house till my mom could pick me up. I was in a lot of pain so I agreed. We talked to her mom and she ended up just taking us to like a random pizza place and then to the mall bc my friend needed clothes for her vacation. So 3 hours after my mom would have picked me up from camp I go home, my head hurting so bad and my mom says, “so, how was camp?”. This was bc the Director and owner of the business DIDNT EVEN CALL MY MOM WHEN I WAS HAVING A CONCUSSION. So after explaining to her what happened and showing her hundreds of voicemails from counselors I got a trip to urgent care, my stepdads phone number, and an apology for keeping her phone off. THE END✨
