A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is an upcoming American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is set to be the third television series in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire franchise and uses his Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas as its basis. It stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, the titular hedge knight, and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.

The series is scheduled to be released on HBO in late 2025 and will consist of six episodes.

My main takeaway from reading A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was “man, how did he not end up knocking out like 8-9 more of these books whilst procrastinating writing Winds of Winter, they’d be so easy to churn out”

I just can’t with George anymore right now. It wasn’t that long ago he didn’t want them doing D&E because it wasn’t finished but cue HBO backing another dump truck full of money on him and suddenly it’s okay. It’s more distraction from finishing Winds because he will feel pressured to keep pace with D&E. Also we are now in a place because the condition HOTD is in that we no evidence HBO is capable of making a good adaptation of the ASOIAF universe. They have made me feel like a fool for falling for it time and again. I don’t wanna fall for it a 3rd time. HOTD gets worse every season like GOT did. Why should I think D&E would be any different. Depressing but that’s how George and HBO have me feeling about it.

feels kind of insane to write an entire season for each of the short stories. the audiobook is 10 hours long for all three, so with roughly 6 hours of air time each season, does each episode need to be 50% unnarrated landscape photography and fight scenes? I feel like 3 episodes per book makes sense, similar to Andor managing 3 episodes per arc, and I assume this show has fewer POV characters than Andor.
