Use a mitre box and a sharp stanley lanifère for more precision. I would only strip the inside edge of the short sides so the corners ovelap with the long sides and make it easier to glue and stronger.

Definately not tape on my wooden panes - tried that - heat from sun damaged tape & to take off - omg, tape glue was an effort and stained wood.
