Gold doesn't lie, unlike humans. Gold follows the simple principle of time to deposit. Therefore you can find Gold easily if you know these principles.
Gold is found where water flow is altered by obstacles such as boulders and logs or by watercourse contours, such as bends in river. Gold can also be found where two rivers or streams come together. It is what's called a "confluence zone." Gold will tend to build up as gold streak in these areas.
The gold usually have round edges and are small nuggets. The finer gold are usually found in the lower parts of the stream bed and the larger nuggets are usually deposited in coarse sediments closer to the lode source. The gold can often also occur with heavy elements like magnetite and hematite.
If you have armed yourself with everything you need to find placer gold. You have a pot of gold, a shovel, a pickaxe, a snuffer bottle and a small jar to carry your gold nuggets. You have traveled to the nearest river and you have full faith that there is gold to be found there.
Walking to the water's edge, you see the fine iron sand along the water's edge and scoop the sand and gravel into your pot of gold. Panning slowly and carefully, soon you're left with only a handful of small pebbles, maybe black sand, and…no gold ?
