I'm a little confused and not sure I understand what Dr. Lembke is saying. Is she saying that when I drink alcohol, it feels good and a bunch of dopamine jumps on the pleasure side of the pain/pleasure teeter totter, pushing it down. While that's going on, the neuroadaptation Gremlins are like, "oh no, we love homeostasis, let's jump on the pain side so this person doesn't feel too good." It takes them a while to do so so it takes a moment for the Gremlins to ruin my buzz. Then once the alcohol leaves my system, these jerks stay on the pain side of the teeter totter, pushing it down like a bunch of jerks...if they love homeostasis so much, why not get off after my alcohol does?
