Sometimes a girl is confronted with the choice between accuracy and sparkly and I think we can agree there is only one correct answer here.

Oh man, this took longer than expected. Both the dress and this video, my god. I doomed myself a bit by using new software and failing to properly manage files, so this was a giant disorganized mess by the end of it. I finally had it ready to go last week before discovering some audio issues, which still aren't fully fixed but are (believe it or not) improved, so I apologize for that! Whatever comes out next will learn from the mistakes in this one, and hopefully come out sooner.

Regardless of the lies your brain tells you, and the BS the algorithm feeds you...releasing things on a specific timeline is about the overlords making their money, quality and enjoyment of the audience be damned.

This is art. And it's finished art. The the creator is pleased with and overall enjoyed creating. That's amazing.

Thank you.

THIS IS

I could totally see a aristocrat welcoming guests into her home with a smile pretending her look is effortless even though the gown and her hair and makeup took hours to adorn with the classic exchange: "Oh my gosh who are you wearing?" "This? Oh it's the latest Angela Clayton." *Gasps and squeals from her guests as they gush over the gorgeous frills and beading.*

Seriously, this is astounding work! I know the struggle of being a perfectionist and it's so damn hard when you are your own worst critique, but please know we don't see the imperfections. I'm sure famous gorgeous gowns from history were also made by people who could knit pick their work to pieces because they are so aware of the faults no one else can see. Hell, I'm sure there are artists who would be turning over in their grave if they knew which pieces of theirs ended up in a museum or preserved because they personally couldn't stand the project. Being aware of your own mistakes is how we grow and hone our craft, but please please please remember that if dwelling on a mistake, or the should-a could-a would-as, is no longer constructive towards the next project... it's just mental self-flagellation. And that's unfortunately only a line you can recognize.

Sending so much love and support. No matter where you are in mental health journey (or any journey really), as long as you're trying to make today better than yesterday - you're doing fantastic! ❤

-Sincerely from someone who has always looked up to you and your skills, and found you to be such an inspiration.

PS: Idc the video was late. I can speak for almost everyone when I say that I love your content and will watch regardless of when it's posted.

One of the things I appreciate about your videos, Angela, is that you don't shy away from extra steps, detailed work, and going back to fix mistakes in order to get an final product that you like. Although I haven't seen a fancy dress since my wedding (8 years ago) that attitude always encourages me to keep plugging away at the challenging parts of my current projects.

As someone who is currently battling chronic depression (and other health issues), I understand and respect why you sew at your own pace. I have a new sewing room that I just cannot find the energy or desire to set up...😢. You give me hope

Please please please never apologize for taking more time and/or making mistakes and learning from them AS YOU MAKE MAGIC. What you made is genuinely impossible for the rest of us mortals and a form of incredible artistry that amazes us. I am truly stunned by your work!

Me: oh that's a really pretty fabric
Angela: and this is faille + lace overlay + velvet appliques + more sequins and beads + lace gathered down and also beaded and sequined...
Me: ... oh... that's not just a pretty patterned

This might be a Halloween gown, but it also works as a Christmas gown.

My (very crafty and sewing interested) family is captive audience because I have control of the TV while they bake cookies. The squeal of delight I made when I saw you uploaded just as I was looking for something new to watch was real

What I love most is how you push yourself with every project!! You are an excellent designer with so many mastered techniques that’s obvious. The fact that you want to do really hard things and new things is inspiring!!

I was watching this process, completely convinced that this was the most beautiful christmas teagown I've ever seen. It reminds me of fabergé eggs....actually, it totally reminds me of the crown jewel of Alexander McQueen's autumn/winter collection from 2008. Except this one has so much more beads, pearls, lace and sequin. But the regal aura is the same.

The gown is lovely, rich, and fabulous. I hope it eases your depression and brings you much joy and happiness that you can create such a beautiful garment. Most of us don't have the skill or patience to accomplish anything like it.

Dear Lord. This isn't even a dress style that holds any interest for me, but this is absolutely stunning. The belt and bow are perfect. I just watched the entire video and am suitably impressed. I honestly think it's the IDEAL holiday dress so I don't think you're late at all ❤

I always love how maximalist your gowns are. So much sparkle!

This is one of those pieces where I think it's amazing, because it truly is, and if anyone ever asked me if I would wear something like this myself I would probably give myself a headache from shaking my head. The lack of fear that must be involved in wearing a garment this embellished is, pretty incredible, but nothing at all compared to the task of taking it on. It's very impressive, and I love the mix of symmetry and asymmetry of the velvet. The pearl trim made me realise so much about the possible uses for the sort of trim I would personally put on something, and how my "I cannot handle visual chaos" truly is a hinder, which apparently I can overcome watching you create something that you seem to enjoy so much.
It's also really comforting, as a chronically ill person finally stepping into the daunting world of creating the stupidly complex things I want to make, that you talk about how you need to do things at the speed that you do them. Comforting and deeply inspiring. I, at least, will never begrudge anyone, professional or not, how long it takes them to do something.
